How to remove the Kia badge and install the E badge on the Kia Stinger hood

I took mine into Kia and they were not able to put them on for me...

That is ... astounding. What reason did they give?

Thanks will do! Its getting ceramic coated as we speak.
I'm about to get mine Ceramic Coated as well. The detailer said he would be happy to swap the badges for me prior to the "paint correction" phase. He said he typically removes all badges during this phase of any project to ensure complete coverage. He did however, say he would install the new badges prior to Ceramic Coating since the 3M tape used to affix would have an issue securing to the Ceramic Coating. I guess this makes sense.

I did mine last Friday night. Took about 2 1/2 hours longest process was removing the adhesive glue left behind. Used dental floss, goo gone, blow dryer and soft rubber spatula to get behind the badges no scratches. The E Badge had tabs I used pliers to take off one tab and used a nail filer to smooth it down so it was flush. Placed silicone on the back holes and installed the Stinger on the back turned out great! (I went super slow but it was worth it)

But I love the cleanliness of the “E” badge, nothing to do with the brand snobbing.

It's all a matter of individual preference. Obviously nobody on this forum has an issue driving/owning a KIA. I've debated debagding the entire vehicle. Purely because I prefer the "clean" look. The KIA logo itself, could use some changes but that's just my opinion. I think every brand out there has done some tweaking to their logo over the years. I've answered countless questions on both my '18 and '19 Stingers and happily expressed my approval of the KIA brand.

So I changed out my front Kia badge with the new E badge but a serious problem happened. My brother who drives and Audi S5 Sportback said that he would do it for me because he changed out all of his badges for carbon fiber ones using his shitty heat gun. When he started heating the Kia badge he left it on the highest setting and while he was going back and forth trying not to leave it in on one spot for too long, I immediately started to notice the right side of the paint start wrinkling! So I slapped that shit out of his hand and started throwing expletives at him. I only ever used wedges when I take badges off never any heat tools when I did it for my old BMW 530i and also my Genesis Coupe.

I wanted to ask the community if this damage is fixable by wet sanding/buffing with polish.

If you can see in the picture it created a weird ripple kind of effect.
Any advice would help a lot. I was already told by a detailing shop that it may just have to be sanded all the way down and just repaint that area. Fack!!!

Edit: I also believe my car came the the paint protection add on.

Ouch, heat gun! Hairdryer and goo dissolve with fishing line is all you need. Good luck I'm sure theres a fix.

Yeah I should've never listened to by brother, lol. I usually use paint wedges to debadge my cars. I used them for the stinger trunk badge and it came out perfect. Lesson learned I guess :(

Deep down in his subconscious, he is jealous you got that car while he has an overpriced car that's maybe as good, but 20K more. So his accident might have subconsciously been on purpose, and he didnt even know it himself :)

So I made an extremely unfortunate discovery while removing my badges. Rear badge came off mostly fine but I got impatient and started using fishing line so there are some fine scratches that I'm gonna have to see about getting buffed out or something. The BIG issue is that, after removing the front badge (taking much more care, dousing it in goo gone beforehand, and using mostly floss) I discovered large deep scratches right down to the plastic bumper material. Problem is that, I didn't cause them. They were there under the badge. I'm attaching a few pics. 2 showing exactly what I found after the badge came off and one showing the back of the badge itself. It's pretty clear I think that there is no paint present on the back of the badge. It is also clear if you look closely, that the scratches CONTINUE underneath the glue that I've yet to remove from the bumper. So it looks like this happened at the factory, and they put the badge over it. I guess thinking that nobody would ever see it. So my question is, do I go to the dealership with this? I got the car last week. If I leave everything as it is as proof that I didn't cause this, they should hopefully take care of it right?20181223_112623.webp 20181223_112715.webp 20181223_113331.webp

I’m sorry this happened to you, but yes I would try your Dealer first, it cannot hurt.
I can clearly see in the picture of the underside of the badge that there are no apparent marks around the edge.
If the dealer tells you no, well you are going to have to take the hit on this & take it to a body shop for repair, they may also fill the holes why they are at it.
