How to remove the Kia badge and install the E badge on the Kia Stinger hood

I'd probably just find an oval badge I prefer over stock. I know, it sucks, but I doubt the dealer is going to be of much help here...

Well that will be a last resort. I feel like this should be handled since it was somebody at Kia LITERALLY covering up shoddy work.

How to remove the Kia badge and installed the E badge on the hood?

Pay the dealership 60 bucks to do the hood, the rear and change out the center caps :-)

As others have mentioned, they are not always keen on doing this.
Amen. I'm still thinking about a re-badge on the hood and hatch. Last time I was at the dealer for an oil change I asked the asst. service manager what they would charge for a re-badge. He said: "what's that?" I said: "never mind".

Go to a reputable body shop, they do this stuff everyday & they would know all the tricks & it should be done with a minimum of fuss.

Man dealerships are the worst... I'm really not looking forward to calling these people tomorrow for my problem. I can practically feel that it's gonna be a fight.

my dealership had done quite a few of the badge switch outs. Came out perfect. I've had nothing but good experiences with my dealership.

Count yourself lucky. Many would not want to deal with it. In many instances it's just ignorance. A genuine lack of knowledge both of the process and of whether or not it would keep a car in warranty. As ridiculous as that sounds, I guarantee there's a dealership out there somewhere that thinks a badge swap will void a warranty.

Before I asked them to do it, I asked some questions. They had done quite a few, they knew they wanted them without the posts cause it was easier and they knew that they didnt like putting the big Stinger insignia in the back cause of the hole matchups. I didn't end up wanting that anyway, so it was fine. They also knew that it didnt mess up any part of the warranty and if it did, the they wouldn't have done it.

Update to my paint situation. Looks like so far so good. Spoke to my salesperson and she said they should be able to take care of it. She needs to speak with the sales manager and the body shop (which is closed today) but she sounded confident that they'd be able to fix it for me. Fingers crossed.

So I changed out my front Kia badge with the new E badge but a serious problem happened. My brother who drives and Audi S5 Sportback said that he would do it for me because he changed out all of his badges for carbon fiber ones using his shitty heat gun. When he started heating the Kia badge he left it on the highest setting and while he was going back and forth trying not to leave it in on one spot for too long, I immediately started to notice the right side of the paint start wrinkling! So I slapped that shit out of his hand and started throwing expletives at him. I only ever used wedges when I take badges off never any heat tools when I did it for my old BMW 530i and also my Genesis Coupe.

I wanted to ask the community if this damage is fixable by wet sanding/buffing with polish.

If you can see in the picture it created a weird ripple kind of effect.
Any advice would help a lot. I was already told by a detailing shop that it may just have to be sanded all the way down and just repaint that area. Fack!!!

Edit: I also believe my car came the the paint protection add on.
Looks to me like he got the clear bra too warm. Might be able to heat it back up and smooth it out. Or a clear bra install could remove and replace

You need to determine if you have the ppf on there, but if you do, I have a thought. You could try gently warming that spot until the rippled area is softened to the touch, then hitting it with something cold like a can of aerosol spray designed for dusting off things like keyboards. Even a spray liquid that gets really cold when sprayed out. That might "shrink" the film back down, at least enough to make it less noticeable.

Like I said, just a thought..

It's gotta be the PPF for sure tho cause I took to several auto detailing and paint correction shops and they all said they have never seen that kind of ripple pattern before.

You know what... I may attempt it cause it really does look like it's the PPF. I'd like to say tho that I love this forum and their members for taking time out of their day to help a brotha out.
Much appreciated, thank u guys.

I did the rear trunk emblem with paint wedges and came out perfect. Never receive advice from Audi owners like my ass of a lil brother, lol. But this is how it came out IMG_20181222_150131_751-01.webp

it is not about being a badge snob... the E logo looks much better than the Kia logo .. that's it.
For whoever wanting to do this on their own... take your time ! use a hairdryer, not a heat gun ! looks like the paint is quite think and you will get bubbles or heat the glue to much, it will take the paint out with it. Take your time, use plastic wedges and dental floss - take your Saturday afternoon off and go slowly :)

Super easy. No heat. Just fishing line. Tape around edges. Spray goo-gone. Mine came off in 10 min. Spent more time trying to line up the replacement badge to get it straight. Total time < 30 min.

Anyone in Virginia (DMV) that can install my stinger badges on my car for me? I’m not really keen to doing it myself. I just purchased a stinger today and my badge set is coming tomorrow.
