Thanks will do! Its getting ceramic coated as we speak.Go to a smash repairer/panel shop they should be able to manage that for you.
I took mine into Kia and they were not able to put them on for me...
I kind of get that, it's a dealer and not a body shop. That is ... astounding. What reason did they give?
I'm about to get mine Ceramic Coated as well. The detailer said he would be happy to swap the badges for me prior to the "paint correction" phase. He said he typically removes all badges during this phase of any project to ensure complete coverage. He did however, say he would install the new badges prior to Ceramic Coating since the 3M tape used to affix would have an issue securing to the Ceramic Coating. I guess this makes sense. Thanks will do! Its getting ceramic coated as we speak.
Then you're in great company! Nobody here is!Sorry, not a brand snob.
Ouch, heat gun! Hairdryer and goo dissolve with fishing line is all you need. Good luck I'm sure theres a fix.So I changed out my front Kia badge with the new E badge but a serious problem happened. My brother who drives and Audi S5 Sportback said that he would do it for me because he changed out all of his badges for carbon fiber ones using his shitty heat gun. When he started heating the Kia badge he left it on the highest setting and while he was going back and forth trying not to leave it in on one spot for too long, I immediately started to notice the right side of the paint start wrinkling! So I slapped that shit out of his hand and started throwing expletives at him. I only ever used wedges when I take badges off never any heat tools when I did it for my old BMW 530i and also my Genesis Coupe.
I wanted to ask the community if this damage is fixable by wet sanding/buffing with polish.
If you can see in the picture it created a weird ripple kind of effect.
Any advice would help a lot. I was already told by a detailing shop that it may just have to be sanded all the way down and just repaint that area. Fack!!!
Edit: I also believe my car came the the paint protection add on.
Yeah I should've never listened to by brother, lol. I usually use paint wedges to debadge my cars. I used them for the stinger trunk badge and it came out perfect. Lesson learned I guessOuch, heat gun! Hairdryer and goo dissolve with fishing line is all you need. Good luck I'm sure theres a fix.
Deep down in his subconscious, he is jealous you got that car while he has an overpriced car that's maybe as good, but 20K more. So his accident might have subconsciously been on purpose, and he didnt even know it himselfYeah I should've never listened to by brother, lol. I usually use paint wedges to debadge my cars.
