Winter Rim Setups

Looking to get some winter wheels, looking to downsize to an 18 inch squared setup to run four 255/40ZR18, as I have the RWD trying to keep the same rear width of 8.5 and make the front wheels wider while increasing treadwall.

Has a anyone found any 18x8.5 wheels that clear the caliper? Having a hell of a time finding one, lots of manufacturers saying no or they aren't sure, any help or confirmed working 18x8.5s would be helpful!

Looking for something like Konig Lockout 18x8.5 +45mm | LK88514455 | Fitment Industries or AVID1 AV26 18x9.5 +38mm | AV2618955H38BK | Fitment Industries in black.

Yes they are very grippy, I'm super impressed with the smart AWD. It handles much better than my Ford Expedition, as long as it's not too deep. been cruising' in ECO mode, punching' it off the line at stop lights, no spinning or fishtailing. Just straight raw torque as usual!

Got my GTS on Sunday and got my winter wheel and tire setup today. Popped them on, since the weather is supposed to get cold and crappy soon. Went with the cheapest 18s that Tire Rack had in stock and Continental VikingContacts. They're easily the quietest winter tires I've ever run.

Looking forward to testing them out, can’t remember the last time I was hoping for snow ha ha

Got some a little snow and low temps in ohio so had to put the winter set on....Michelin x ice tires and had the factory rims powder coated blackView attachment 33893View attachment 33894
I LOVE the look! Great taste.
Winter #2 on my setup. I also went with the Michelin X-Ice (but bought a cheaper set of wheels to save curb rash on the OEM's.) Was really impressed with them last winter. Winter driving in the right conditions is SO fun: Sport Mode; TC off, SC on, steer with right foot. Who needs RWD?! ;)

Your set up is so sick, I went with the same! Raging in 14-18 of untracked pow in the Sierras in mView attachment 34695 y Tahoe Stinger!
Now, that's snow! Seeing the front of your Stinger caked in snowpack, I have to ask if your front parking sensors function? This afternoon, for the first time, my parking sensors did not light up. Very, very carefully I kept inching forward, waiting for the beeps and changing colors. Nothing. When I got out and looked, a layer of slush completely obscured them. Of course, the manual warns of this eventuality, so I had it in mind even before I confirmed that it had happened.

they did not work very well in the shape they are in the photo. So, I had the same experience as you. Once the car & mercury warmed up, and the ice melted off, they work fine & were as annoying as ever, so I turned them off again... Haha

You don't like/need aid in parking? Man, I sure do! I still don't know where the front of this car is without them. Although today I did inch to the point where I said "close enough!" And when I got out and looked at my slush-covered sensors, they were right about where I put them when I park with the sensors telling me.

Thumbnail below of a pic I took last Nov. It was the 1st good bit of snow we had - kind-of wet/sticky, and the 1st real snow I drove my Stinger in - a morning commute to work. Got a warning light/message that the forward collision sensor/warning was disabled. Uh oh! I thought - this car's nannies might be too sensitive for the winters here! Weird thing - it's still the only time that's happened. Not sure why. I drove in a lot heavier/wet snow since then, and no problem with any of the sensors. Does this thing "learn"?! Maybe part of Skynet and becoming self-aware?!

Happens because the sensor pad on your grille is too covered with frost/snow

Toyo Observe GSI-6HP 225/40/19 wrapped on my oem rims
They do look skinnier on the rear rims but that was expected and is what you would want for winter.
Overall quite happy with this move since I convinced myself to get summer rims :whistle::whistle:

Well, we got hit pretty good this afternoon, and we were out in it. The AWD is a snowmobile! This was the deepest and thickest snow I've driven my Stinger through so far. On A/S tires no less. I drive very conservatively in all such conditions. The tires and AWD practically "launch" the car from a dead stop if you want to show off. :D But, I do not. I deliberately slid to the left as I turned out onto the highway from a side street. Other than that, I haven't broken traction or skidded once. In this gunk, turning to ice "under foot" even as we watched, I use Smart Mode.

(When we got home, I filled a bucket with hot water and wiped her down, then toweled her dry. There's something perversely fun about doing this with temperatures falling below freezing, under a carport, while the snow is still coming down. )

And, to illustrate what I've said about winter driving around here: how the next afternoon, typically the snow is off the roads and they are ninety percent plus dried out: this was Saturday at c. noon, less than 24 hours after those pics taken on Friday.

I went with the Fast FC04 in Black with +40 offset so that they wouldnt be poking out too much, and it might help keep a little snow off the side of the car. Tires are Blizzak WS-90. So far it's been a good experience with them, I am hoping they last a few winters.

I went with the Superspeed Rf05rr Gunmetal in 18x8.5 on Viking contact 7. Have not driven in snowy conditions yet as the wifey uses the car.

They are listed as fitting the Stinger on Touren's website, but I haven't tried it yet. PN is 3260-8803G

I've got a set of TR60s here, got them from Jegs for $112 each, going to put them on as soon as rubber arrives.

Took 35 days for TPMS sensors to arrive from South Korea, but I got it all installed yesterday at Discount tire with CrossClimate+ Tires. The rims cleared the brakes just fine, but they had to balance the tires twice. The first time they put the weights in a position that would touch the brakes.

Note: Hub rings were PN 72-6710-4, and stock lug nuts have the correct seat and fit.

Oof, had my snow wheels/tires mounted and balanced without even considering that. Guess I'll find out this weekend if I'll have to have them balanced again when I go to put them on the car.
