The Kia Stinger Oil Thread

Anyone who even remotely cares for their Stinger would utilize quality lubricant and under no circumstances would fill with mineral lol. Besides, the difference in cost is miniscule if anything.

Ideally SN+ / ACEA A5/ C2 / Mid-Saps lubricant would be a good fit for the Stinger

It depends how long you keep your car. People on leases (who won't buyout) or those like me who historically never keep a car longer than 3.5 years, there is no long term benefit to using synthetic because there is no long term for us, just the future owner.

I run brand name full syn because it makes me feel like I'm doing less harm to the engine when I really get on it. I'm sure there are other that drive their cars harder than me much more often, but hey, keeps me mentally stable, somewhat.

Yeah but synthetic should be a prerequisite for any circa 400HP Twin turbo TGDI V6.

As mentioned the cost factor of synthetic & minerals these days is insignificant. Having said that the term synthetic is a broad one nowadays where the majority of the synthetics are further refined Group 3 mineral oils.

If you want true synthetic look for Group 4/PAO based oil. They're still out, albeit more costly.

PAO/Ester base is one reason I am so fond of Penrite oils.

With RHD stingers. It seems like an EPS motor right below filter housing which makes it impossible to get any tools in there via the round twist off panel from underneath?

How anyone tried getting to filter without removing all the under panels?

All my cars I’ve always put in Mobile 1 full synthetic oil. I have a 2012 Dodge Charger with 110k miles and it still runs like new. Now for my wife’s 2019 Stinger I will be using the dealership who uses blend synthetic. They gave me $20 off coupons for up to 150,000 miles and the oil changes are $35 minus the $20 coupon, so you can’t go wrong with the price.

Yes I watched the video and yes Amsoil won but again just my .02 cents on Mobile 1 and Pennzoil. I have a 2012 Dodge Charger with 110,000 miles using synthetic Mobile 1 every 8,000 mile and it runs like its new.

Sure - but one anecdote also does not mean it's always true. Mobil 1 was TOTAL CRAP for EJ255 Subarus. Multiple people found this on the subaru groups - it burned up like 3x faster than Pennzoil Platinum, for example. Just couldn't take the heat. Found it on my own Legacy GT when it was still quite new - lost 1/2 a quart in no time. Switched to Pennzoil, and burned way less.

Does that mean I think Mobil 1 is bad? No - but it's not necessarily the best oil for every car either.

Not knocking Pennzoil at all. I used it a lot over the years, particularly in my SRTs. I was pointing out it performed better than all other typical name brand oils in these tests.

Funnily enough on Mobil oils and Subarus, I know at least one Subie tuner who recommends Delvac 5W30 because of the significant detergent packs in it!

2nd oil change ....pennzoil ultra 5w-30 gets the nod.....all I have in stock so it's what it is....btw, I change oil every year /6 months or 3,ooo miles which ever comes first.....so if I'm no where near 3,000 miles she gets a yearly change regardless.

I googled recommended engine oil for a Kia Stinger and this popped up “Kia Stinger Base / Premium Your engine oil capacity is 6.0 quarts. Please check that you order enough oil. 2018, Top Tec 4605 SAE 5W-30 Synthetic Motor Oil, by Liqui Moly®

I believe that is for the base and premium Stingers which have the 2.0L engine
