I'm sure there will be some grumping and groaning but we can't have the "first official StingerFest" everywhere. If this one goes well, we'll have more throughout the year.

There's no rule that says you can only have one CarFest per year. There was big interest in California, the Tri-State area, and Texas as well. We'll get planning on those as soon as the planning for Chicago is finalized.

Now we need to figure out WHERE and WHEN, exactly. We need at least 100-200 people to get this truly rolling. I'll do my job on the back end - but I need you all to help. Please spread the word about StingerFest Chicago and get people here to more or less pre-RSVP.

One of the benefits of being in Chicago is it's in a good location to get people coming from north, south, WEST and east around it. California has no potential to get anything from the West other than fish - and fish don't drive Stingers.

I'd like to build up a list of everyone who will most-likely or definitely be going. I need to know numbers in order to get a venue.

It definitely depends on when because that's a hike for me and everyone else in the tri-state

I'll roll up, can't say for sure I will have any other KY Support, but I will get the guys I know a ring and see if we can't roll strong.

I’m in Chicago! Looking forward to it!

I'd be there given no big conflict.

Would anyone like to suggest good places to hold the venue? Is October or November typically a rain-free month? I certainly don't want a rain-out. Maybe something outdoors with an indoor option nearby. Or, perhaps if it rains, it'll just be restaurants and bars so we can all get drunk and kill each other over which color is the fastest...

Wife grew up there, step-daughter still lives there, so we are definitely good to go, given no major conflicts. And I spent 14 months there going through Navy boot and then 3 schools after.

I would personally check out something in the Northwest suburbs, such as Arlington Heights. They have tons of restaurants, bars, entertainment, etc. and it stays far enough away from Chicago downtown traffic that we could get around, but if anyone wanted to go into downtown Chicago it's an easy drive away (easy is relative with Chicago traffic). Plus it would be a little cheaper than being directly in Chicago.

FYI, and other Chicagoland members can confirm, venues in Lake County would probably be cheaper because you aren't paying Cook County (aka CROOK County) taxes. They border one another so it's no big difference, but would help with costs. Once we narrow down dates, I know quite a few people in the area with other car clubs, interests, etc would love to know about it so they could come see the cars.

Edit: I definitely want to go so I can hear some exhausts in person. No one here in Upstate SC even has a modded Stinger that I'm aware of, much less are they on here, lol.

I agree with all of the above, mostly the desire to hear exhausts. I hope to make up my mind while there, so everybody show up, OK? LOL

I also have some family up there and it's only a 3hr drive for me.

The Kia Stinger Experience was at the Arlington Park, Arlington International Race Course (horses, sorry). So Kia may have some pull to have some of the event there and maybe another small autocross setup? Heck, they could just do an encore of the Stinger Experience.

Fish drive Rambler Marlins and Plymouth Barracudas and Opel Mantas. But I digress.

YES! The Arlington Park Racetrack is an awesome venue to go watch horse racing!

There is also a restaurant in Arlington Heights called Salsa 17 which has 200+ different tequilas on hand, they make the BEST margarita's, and they have pineapple soaking in Casa Noble Represado (aged 12 years)....... DAM I want to go back just for the food!

Deep-dish pizza (Giordano's) and the Breaded Steak Sandwich from Ricobene's are at the top of my list........ Not to mention an good Italian Beef sandwich from Portilo's. I'm gonna gain 20 lbs from food :cool::D:D

It'll be difficult to get 200+ Stinger Drivers to agree to a meet, especially when a good chunk of the voters were West Coast. Are there any options to open this up as a KDM meet in general with emphasis on Stingers? I know a bunch of KDM guys looking for a venue to show their cars as well. I do know the weather turns cold quickly between October and November, and rain according to a quick google search is ~6 days a month between the two, so a mixed venue might be a good idea. :)
