Smart cruise control conditions not met.

I hit this error as well. I was in comfort mode, no cars nearby and tried hitting the set button with the throttle input to maintain speed, then tried with no throttle input. I got behind a car a few miles later, thinking the car needed a "gauge" for traffic and still no go.

My Optima never had this issue. I didn't matter what conditions I was in, it always set and tracked beautifully. I finally got the Stinger to engage SCC, but I feel like it was a stroke of luck lol

And are you absolutely sure you're pushing *down* to set it and not up to attempt to resume?
Done this on more than one occasion, and got the 'not met' message a couple of times before realizing why. I suspect a lot of people have done the same.

This has been happening to me too. Just got my stinger a few days ago and tried activating cruise while doing 110km/h and wouldn't activate. I was pushing the toggle down to "set". I wasn't even trying to use the smart cruise control just the old fashion cruise control. Gonna have to do some digging on this. It really should tell you what condition isn't met though...

I had the same thing happening to me. On a brand new car, it would refuse to turn on the smart cruise control. I ended up going into settings menu and changing Forward Collision Warning sensitivity from late to normal (or whatever), and it worked. I think the idea is as with any software, when settings change, the system adjusts itself to it.

When I first got my Stinger I got hit with this and turns out one of the conditions is "Not accelerating" which what turned out to be my issue of having my foot on the pedal and speeding up to where I wanted to be. Now I just let off the gas as I press the button and it engages every time.

Quite different than my pathfinder's intelligent cruise which just picks whatever MPH I'm at as I accelerate.

Mine would not engage one day, but it seems the condition I was not meeting was having TCS engaged. I had traction control turned off because of wanting the computer to not hold the car back on the icy sections of side streets. Once I entered the freeway, I still had traction control off and the SCC did not agree with this logic. Turned TCS back on and cruise worked again.

I bought GT2 less than a week ago.
It worked on the first day driving back from dealership.
I've been getting "condition not met" warning ever since then..
I tried turning on/off TCS, tried on different driving modes, tried to start it at different speeds and no luck..

Anyone that went to the dealership for this, what was the fix for this?

the fix for this?

Whenever the "Conditions not met" message would appear,
I would toggle DOWN once, thereby setting the speed "at one less" than the current speed
and immediately take the foot of the accelerator.
The speed can then set and played with by toggling UP or DOWN.
That was the "fix" for me.

when I get "conditions not met" message, speed won't even set because SCC does not start.
so you are saying if once you press "CRUISE" then toggle "DOWN" and if you get the message, you just toggle "DOWN" and take the foot of the accelerator and SCC worked??

Kind of disappointing that quite few people experienced SCC problem on $50+ MSRP vehicle.
I guess I will have to leave it at dealership...

Before you dump it on the dealer, read the long list of conditions that will cause the cruise control to give that message.

This would happen periodically on my Optima. It was always after a snow storm when sand/salt covered the sensors. Cleaning the car solved it.

So on open roads, you turn on the system with the CRUISE button, then hit "SET-", you get the warning? Is the front radar sensor panel below the badge clean?

I was able to find list of condition where SCC automatically cancels on page 5-86.
but I was not able to find conditions where "conditions not met" would come up.

I wish this was the case..
According to the manual, there is a different message when the sensor is blocked.
"smart cruise control disabled. radar blocked"

This is really annoying..especially within first week of ownership..

radar sensor panel

My observation is, that the radar sensor has very little or nothing to do with the SETTING of the SCC (Smart Cruise Control). In my experience so far, and I only had the car for 13 months, SETTING the SCC appears to be speed dependent.
Confirming what you already described:

Click CRUISE
toggle SET (the switch has the dual function - to UP the speed)
get "THE MESSAGE"
toggle DOWN
get off the gas
...and all is good.

I just finished a three day run from Canada to Ft. Lauderdale, and as you can imagine, after arriving in Virginia, the car was caked with road dirt. I had it washed, but the cruise control was working fine all the way, dirt or no dirt.

Thanks moinmoin!

I have tried your method and it does not work on mine. Although you have figured out a way to work around it, I don't think this is acceptable on vehicle that isn't cheap. I think I will have to take it to the dealer and hopefully it's an easy fix.

I just purchased my stinger yesterday. It works on the test-drive, but then not since. Same error no matter what I change or do. Anyone who have this problem get it fixed?

Mine didn't work for about 2 weeks...
One day, emergency brake engaged while I was making very aggressive lane change.
I think vehicle thought I was crashing into vehicle that was already in the lane I wanted to go.
It actually made it more dangerous as there was a vehicle behind me. Basically, I was trying to squeeze into 2 cars to take my exit. (I'm not proud of it..)
and ever since that SCC worked fine with no issue..
I know SCC and emergency brake uses same radar in the grill, so maybe what I did during lane change made it work..

i also looked at other Kia vehicle forums and apparently quite few people had SCC condition problem and the fix was SW update at the dealership.

Be sure you push the CRUISE button first - you'll see the 'CRUISE' indicator show up on the dashboard. Then when you've reached the speed you want, push DOWN on the toggle. Most people would instinctively want to push 'UP' for 'ON' - but that will give you the message 'Conditions Not Met'.

As 'UP' is resume, it's really trying to tell you that there is nothing to resume - they should really have a different message for that. If you are SURE you are doing the above correctly (I pushed the button the wrong way a number of times when I first had the car), then see the dealer. Considering the fact you've only had the car a day, I'm leaning toward (temporary) operator error ... :)

I have driven it around 8 hours so far and tried to get it to work for around 4 hours after I noticed it was not working. Around 2 hours into those 4 hours, I stopped and read the entire manual entry, so hopefully I understand how it works at this point.

I have tried every permutation given in this thread. The regular not-smart cruise control works just fine. It is just the smart cruise control always gives that error no matter what I do.
