Smart cruise control conditions not met.

Mine didn't work for about 2 weeks...
One day, emergency brake engaged while I was making very aggressive lane change.
I think vehicle thought I was crashing into vehicle that was already in the lane I wanted to go.
It actually made it more dangerous as there was a vehicle behind me. Basically, I was trying to squeeze into 2 cars to take my exit. (I'm not proud of it..)
and ever since that SCC worked fine with no issue..
I know SCC and emergency brake uses same radar in the grill, so maybe what I did during lane change made it work..

i also looked at other Kia vehicle forums and apparently quite few people had SCC condition problem and the fix was SW update at the dealership.

Interestingly enough they lost the manual and SD card for the car and had to find a stock one to give me. I wonder if my software is not fully up to date because of that.

I can't seem to find where to check the versioning of the current firmware. Is there a place for consumers to do that or am I doomed to take it in? =p

I remember seeing a screen where it showed SW version, but those are just infotainment SW versions which I believe doesn't have much interaction with SCC.

For anyone else who might come across this now or in the future, I took it into the dealer and they confirmed that something very weird is going on. Since it's a Stinger, they have to bring in a 'field specialist' to have it looked at (even though they are supposedly the biggest Kia dealership in the US).

So six days after buying the car I shall be driving a base Optima loaner for 3 or 4 days :P. I'll update this post with the issue when the fancy traveling field engineer figures it out.

I've had my Stinger GT2 now for about 2 months. The Smart Cruise Control worked flawlessly until 2 days ago. Now, it said, "Smart Cruise Control conditions not met," every time I try to set it. I followed the exact same protocol as I have done before and I'm getting this same message every single time. If you guys find the answer to this mystery, please post on here. I'll probably take it back to the dealer if this isn't resolved within the next few days...so frustrating.

Has anyone had the dealer fix this issue yet? I had taken it to the dealer yesterday, they couldn't fix the issue. Now they have booked in the car to give it another go. They said itican take up to three days in the workshop. Sounds like they intend on pulling it all apart to find the root cause?

I took my Stinger into the dealer 2 days ago and spoke to a service advisor about the problem with Smart Cruise Control. He checked the "TSB" Technical Service Bulletin on his computer and said that there has not been any problems reported about SCC with the Stinger. I told him that more than a few people have reported problems like this on the Stinger forum. I was told that I would have to leave the car overnight for them to diagnose the problem. It would involve communicating back and forth with Kia and trying to duplicate the problem I've reported, which wouldn't be difficult to do. I told him that I didn't want to leave the car behind because this is my vacation week. Meanwhile, I've tried everything suggested on this thread to no avail. He also told me that they can log onto the smart cruise control module in the car to see if they can find error codes. I just didn't want to deal with not having my own car on my week of vacation and told him that I would bring it back at a later time.

I had this problem for a while, then it went away. Shortly after getting the Stinger I went on a trip and it was working fine, but on the way back it suddenly turned itself off and said 'Smart Cruise Deactivated'. I could not get it to engage for the rest of the trip, 'Conditions not met'.

Next trip I tried activating it many times and it wouldn't work, I was planning to take it to the dealer after the trip. At my destination I let a couple of people test drive it and throw it around some winding roads, and poke around under the hood. They did look through all the menu options, but didn't change anything. On the trip home a couple of days later, it worked perfectly and still works now.

I don't know what the problem was, maybe something was loose?

Stinger Premium, 600 miles 10 days:
"Cruse Control Conditions Not Met" message appeared when I tried to set the cruise control
Tried everything even read the manual still getting message.
Taking it to the dealer tomorrow.

This may have already been asked, not going to read back thru, but to those having the issue - are you using the SET button or RES button? Because I do see this if I try to use RES sometimes, usually after cruise has been turned off (not just cancelled), but if I see that, I can hit SET and it works fine.

I hit the set (down) not resume (up). When I hit "set" the warning comes on.

update:
The service manager took it for a test drive and confirmed it was not operator error. The mechanic took it on a test drive and received the same message "Smart cruise control conditions not met". He did something to it and still is not working after his second test drive. An Inquiry is out and they are waiting for a reply back on how to resolve the issue. They gave me a shuttle ride home the car has been in the shop for 7 hours. Will up date when I get the Stinger back.

Update:
Day one. Problem confirmed and a list of things to check or replace by the service center has started. The mechanic will remove the front bumper and replace the radar to see if that corrects the problem. Tomorrow I start driving a loaner till the problem is resolved.

Update:
Day two.
The Dealer said the problem is fixed, will find out how they fixed it tomorrow.

Fixed:
The front camera alignment calibration was lost.
They recalibrate the front camera as per SCC radar calibration repair procedure.
here is a web site, the front bumper had to be removed to do this procedure and the radar had to be aimed at a target. kniro.net/smart_cruise_control_scc_unit_radar_repair_procedures-997.html

It is unknown how the alignment was lost, no bumps, and I still have not washed the vehicle. It is speculated that it came from the factory close to the threshold of being out of alignment and the elements Temp, humidity, rain, somehow moved the alignment slightly.

I have driven it and turned the smart cruise control on and off about 5 times and it works perfect.
He also showed me how to use the cruise without using the radar so if it ever happens again I can switch to "un-smart cruise" and still have the function of regular cruise control.

If anyone else looses alignment please post, thanks.

@donnn What was your original issue with the system?

Smart Cruise control would not come on. It would only give the message:

"Smart Cruise Conditions Not Met"

Edit: One note, the smart cruise control worked fine the first 600 miles and then stop working.

I also encountered this problem today at about 18.000 km on the clock.
I went through a heavy storm and some hail at one point. The SCC disabled itself and the error (orange triangle) came on. After the storm passed the error disappeared and the SCC started working normally for about 1h after which it completely stopped working. No more orange triangle, just “conditions are not met”. Everything else worked just fine (lane assist, basic cruise, high beam assist) but the SCC.
I stopped and cleaned the radar but still did mot work.
About half an hour later, I thought I should take a picture of the error for the dealer.
I turned on Lane Assist, High Beam Assist and then tried to turn on SCC and.. it worked! I used it for the next half an hour with no extra trouble.
Hope this error will not come back.

I used an abrasive sponge you find at some gas stations. Nothing sophisticated, just clearing out the dead insects.
Maybe also relevant that I had been driving about 600km (today) before the storm, 99% with the SCC on, all working perfectly.
To be honest, I think this whole thing is a software problem and not a mechanical/radar one..
