Certainly DA comes into play any time we're measuring a vehicle's performance. According to his profile the altitude for the city he lives in is 1129 feet. Given the fact that it's still winter and temperatures are right around freezing, this tends to decrease DA, rather than increase. For example, the DA in Kelowna as I type this is negative 154 feet. Could yesterday's conditions have been different enough to cause a +2600 foot swing? Yes, but it's unlikely.
I wonder if the dyno shop he visited is at a much higher elevation.
