• PLEASE! It is VERY important that this area is not used for the discussion of technical issues with your Stinger. This section is for posting about regional-specific things like Stinger clubs, events, local vendor or dealer recommendations, KiaStinger.com member sightings, etcetera... In other words, I do NOT want people to need to scour through several different sections to find answers about their heads up display. That's why there's a section dedicated specifically to discussions like that. THANK YOU!

Pictorial where did you go in your Stinger today

Yes, he does seem to be in the habit.

(Sorry, Sound of Music joke.)
Use it or lose it. The largest looming truth at this stage. Hah.

Drove into the Uinta mountains for one last late season hike. Weather was ideal (in the 40s all afternoon). Our quest was Cuberant lake, which was higher than we expected, as that pertains to trail elevation change; i.e. we had to go UP quite a bit more than we expected. We saw no one aside from one couple when we were nearly back to the parking lot. The Uinta mountains are best enjoyed without humanity. Hah. (pandemics and socialist distancing does nothing to improve my isolationist tendencies) (the Fujifilm xP140 is a great point and shoot camera)

Another mountain conquered. Nice pics.

More great photos from our resident mountaineer Merlin the Mad.

The Stinger definitely gets a lot of attention out here and it certainly doesn’t feel like I’ve driven 1200 plus km. Very comfortable.

How’s the condition of the roads out there, do they suit the Stinger or are they rough going.

Surprisingly pretty good. One section was quite undulating but I found switching it to sport mode smoothed that out quite well. Fuel economy was sitting on 7.9l/100km.

Walked/hiked the Bonneville Shoreline Trail today. Went south further than we have before; that's the token pic of where we turned around (LDS Draper temple dead center; this is named the "Corner Canyon" area).

Arriving back at the parking lot, I saw two other vehicles obviously preferring the lower parking lot to the more trafficked one. The blacked out Telluride I provide as interest; I hadn't seen anyone tint the KIA badges on a Telly before; and the black lettering looks very subtle and cool. The wheels (should have taken a pic, too late now) are gloss black with the KIA badge in the center. I don't know if Kia offers this color combo and black wheels or not. I'm guessing this aftermarket modification. Looks good!

On election day, my grade school chum and I went hiking, possibly for the last time this year (with weather descending, again, later this week into next week); and my great accomplishment was to steer off the pavement as I was angling for a parallel parking spot behind this Mini Cooper; SCRAPE!!! Instantly stopped and got out; sure enough my RR rocker arm (is that what the lower suspension is called?) was sitting on the edge of the asphalt, or rather (on closer inspection), the protection plate below the suspension was sitting on the asphalt: DAMN!! All along to the front suspension it looked like I had maybe one inch of clearance before I would be scraping up the bottom of all my undercarriage panels, and then into my exhaust pipes. Yikes! (how am I possible?) Anyway, my friend stayed out, to give me all possible clearance: I backed slooowly, while holding the steering wheel to the right, and hiked my RF wheel back onto the pavement; backed a little more to give me a good attack angle, then eased onto the road. Not a sound, so, no more contact/scraping, thank goodness!

The next c. twenty minutes was spent securing a decent parking spot. First I went to the side of the road just past the entrance to an auxiliary parking lot inside the upper "horseshoe" bend; but on discussing it with my friend (I guess I should share his name after all these hikes; his name is Mike), I decided he was right: some idiot could come screaming up the canyon, hooning into the first horseshoe, and leave the road right into the side of my car; why risk it? Mike saw a parking spot, parallel to the entrance and the road, just inside the parking lot. It looked good, so I went in there and turned my car off; got out and looked at it, got back in and turned it on and snugged closer to the trees and rock and got out again.

The people who belonged to the car just in front of my nose came back from their little "hike"; turned out they had gone hardly enough up the Lake Blanche trail (just to the sitting bench) to be called a "hike"; but the dad said, "This is my first time up here, man." And he repeated that a couple of times; he was clearly enthused to get back up here and go farther; Mike was very encouraging and provided some advice - he's like that. And in a couple of minutes they were gone, leaving the place where they had parked free for the grabbing: I did so: turned out, the place where I was parking was meant as a parallel spot, like I was doing; that other guy had simply nosed into the end of it beside the car to his right. I turned my car back on and took the whole thing. Gorgeous parking spot and job, don't you agree? :P

As we walked away we took another closer look at the Mini Cooper. Yikes! They were right OFF the pavement too, only hung up on the RR suspension arm; the tire was just hanging free in the air (when we got back the Mini was gone; but I would not have wanted to witness the abuse that car went through to get away  ).

The double horseshoe bends, seen from "the other side"; an angle I've not seen in my entire life until yesterday; my parking spot is behind the trees, so, unseen, directly below the upper road (exit from the upper horseshoe). You can see the Mini to the right, behind a white SUV; some "red" car has taken the parking spot I abandoned; looks like they stayed on the pavement like a smart person. Heh!

Just a few pics from the hike. There's going to be a lot more snow to add to this little skiff later this week. Heh.

Visited our son's family this evening. On the way back we stopped at the cemetery and took mood pics next to the most lit up tree I've ever seen; a light every two to three inches, it's insane.

I'm connected to other people who love the mountains and talk me into it. Hah. I like hiking but not that much. Left to my own devices, I'd probably get up there a couple of times a year is all. :p
A couple of times a year ? your up those mountains like every other week ;) wish we had that sort of scenery where I live.

Took my Stinger to my high school and played in the snow. All wheel drive donuts are pretty fun!
Donuts: the automobile version of making "snow angels". :D

I "went" next door and parked out front, because our driveway was occupied by roofers. They got the house done in one day; tomorrow they do the carport/shed. The new roof looks gorgeous.

Beautiful day for our small Stinger Swarm to head down The Great Ocean Road, three Stingers and a Falcon XR6.
On the way, we slowly avoided a Koala that was trying to cross the road outside Lorne.
The Police were waiting with the Radar as we headed into Anglesea, we went onto Apollo Bay to have a nice dish of Fish n' Chips for lunch.

Very mundane, but the pic is unique: I got to Herbs for Health as they were supposed to open at 10 AM, but the gal arrived over five minutes late; so, while waiting, I snapped a pic of my Stinger's reflection (note the CLOSED sign dimly visible over it). The gal arrived and I got my wife's distilled water for the week (eight gallons).
