Pictorial where did you go in your Stinger today

If anyone in NSW is "thinking" about doing this, don't be scared ( nervous excitement is expected though ).

There are Beginner & Intermediate groups / sessions for the Sydney Motorsport Park Track Days, and at the start, the hosts give you 2 way radios and do 2 slow siting laps in a convoy to show you the track and walk you through technique. There are also people there who will hop in the car with you to help you get the most out of your time on the track safely ( just ask ).

NOTE: I don't work for them or get anything for saying all this but I was just really impressed at how it was run and I had so much fun.
The last time I went out on this track was 11 years ago and they've improved the experience / service a lot since then ( however I now drive a bit more conservatively than I did 11 years ago ).

I went out in the intermediate group and was joined by the likes of a 1 series BMW, $600K Porsche (something), 5.0 Mustangs, Honda's, a WRW and an angry Fiat 500 Arbath on Semi-Slicks.

You soon learn who's going to be in your mirrors and just let them go by ( then try to catch them ).

You can drive as fast as you feel comfortable and so long as you keep your eyes open and follow the rules, you'll be fine. Yes, there are always people faster than you but it's not a race. Just a place to drive your stinger the way you wish you always could. No traffic lights, intersections, Police, Mobile Speed Camera's, etc etc.

You must be the HCR that one of the Facebook members spotted at SMSP the other day.

Struggled a bit with the auto ! ( first auto car I've owned ).

Guilty as charged ! That's me & mine. Thanks for posting this up. Would never have seen it otherwise.

I'd love to say that "I" just "passed" that Porsche.... but, the Stinger did very well when you consider "bang for your buck".

Yesterday, we went walking in Copperton park (just outside of Kennecott Copper mine). I noticed as I pulled in that the parking stanchions had been replaced (haven't parked there in years). This is what I am talking about when I observe/warn not to pull in too close to curbs/stanchions: people do this all the time. And by developing a bad habit of pulling in over a curb/stanchion, you will bust your front end. Imagine what my front bumper would look like right now if I had smacked into that thing!?

Ascot Green is a fascinating color: there is no way that I could settle on it as the color of that car in these pics: Panthera Metal, Indigo, Ascot Green, even Aurora Black could all look that way depending on the light being reflected.

Yeah, agreed. I tell people it is the greenish car.

Five of us in the Salt Lake Valley area managed to get together for a "swarm", in Murray park. Utah Stingers We did not plan that symmetrical color arrangement, it just happened that way as Stingers arrived. All GT trims: one GT, two GT1 and two GT2. The only model year not represented was 2020; my 2018, @ryno5514 's 2019, @jmcbgardner 's 2021, @Knet182 's 2021 and @HaltHammerzeit 's 2022. Here's the folder of the pics and videos I took: swarm

There are probably a lot of SUV & truck owners out there that drive right over the top of normal ones.

Those should slow em down !

As for San Francisco, I would stop at San Diego. Went to SFO just before the COVID thing and didn't like the place at all ( and I used to live in the SFO Bay area ).

Medium strips, yes. I followed an SUV over the top of one of those on the PCH in Torrance a few years ago: it was a low strip, an early one: it barely tore my front two under panels and scraped the nut and bolt that the lower suspension arm is held on with. Later, I noticed newer medium strips around town that were much beefier and higher: and counted my blessings that I had not encountered one of those, or my car would have died.

When I was in for service recently, while I waited I asked where the new Stingers were. The salesman pointed to middle of the south 40 (why are they hiding them?) and said, "Yeah, we got two of those new blue ones." Oh, well, maybe he's colorblind. Looked like a great green to me!

The closer trailheads were slammed and all looked like rush hour parking lots. I found a trailhead (the Pines, Little Cottonwood canyon) above the spring growth, where the snow still lies packed on the trails, and where our hiking sticks played a crucial role. Pic number three is of an avalanche area. It wasn't the least bit cold; temperature was in the high 60s.
