I'm always kinda looking for the small things that might enhance the big things. I have often just polished the casting slag from inlets, and opened slightly intake openings, and even ported heads on everything from motocross bikes to 911s. Maybe I have been lucky but so far I haven't harmed any engines from port work(yet). Knowing any gains (if any) will be small, but I know I'm doing something as I learn more about that engine.
I took pics last night of the internal opening of the airbox, but didn't take any measurements. I will measure when the filters arrive, might even look into what improvements could be made on the inlet piping. I'm not concerned that this is too restrictive, my GT2 runs like a bat outa hell now. BUT I want MORE!!! Will probably order a Borla cat back this week too, geez the exhaust is restrictive (I've looked at that too). We have a hell of a starting platform with these Stingers, I love it!
