If the Stinger didn't exist, what would you have bought?

CTS-V2. It was my dream car for a while, just couldn't find any nice ones in my area and started looking into other fun 4 doors

Our search list was very long.... We love all types of vehicles and generally love fast road boats... not in order per se, but i'll try to list the higher contenders first pretty much all of these we were considering used.
  • m240i
  • 340i
  • 440i GC
  • e400 wagon
  • e400 coupe
  • g70
  • Lexus RC f
  • CTS-v
  • ATS-v
  • STS-v
  • IS f
  • GS f
  • 2003-2006 s55 amg
  • 2005-2006 e55 amg wagon
  • Equus
  • Genesis Sedan 5.0 R-spec
  • V90 t6 Cross Country
  • 2016+ 740i
  • S5 Sportback

we looked at/tested about half of those... ended up with the Stinger as it was also in the list... but the incentives and warranty of it new as well as its looks did it for us in the end..

I was in the market for a WRX, but every time I went to go purchase one, something would happen. Either the one I wanted would be sold right before we got there or even one time my AC / Furnace died while I was waiting for my ride to take me there as I was planning on driving one home. When I eventually got a chance to drive the one I wanted, I was kinda unimpressed and didn't pull the trigger. If I didn't purchase the Stinger, my wife told me that we had to buy a Sienna because she was tired of me telling her that I wanted a car and then settling for something else.

I was driving an M3 as my fun car when out shopping for a Santa Fe for the old lady, came across the Stinger and grabbed one :) Considered an ATS-V but the back half of the car looked like an Accord coupe to me.

I’m considering an Aston Martin vantage 2007 manual right now. Low miles.

Outside of the potential for god awful repair costs, they are apparently quite comfortable, fun and reliable for the most part.

And yes, slower than my last two cars. That’s isn’t the point.

Price is very reasonable for what used to be a 120k car. Granted... it’s 13 year old tech. But still. An Aston. Mmmmmm. Sooo purty.

Charger scatpack/hellcat(depending on the best deal available) or m340i. I was so close to walking away with the m340i but something told me to go test drive the stinger and after I did I was driving away with it the same day!

Almost leased a 2020 Infiniti Q50 Red Sport from owning a 2018 Infiniti Q50 BASE (luxe); but then I heard the Stingers being hot this month or on special so I got a better deal on it.

These replies actually illustrate why most of you guys got the 3.3tt, you were all shopping for sports cars.

I was after a four door saloon with a hatchback, and there were pretty much none in my budget. I think the Buick/Vauxhall/Opel Insignia is literally the only one, but I preferred the Accord both inside and out. And then the Stinger came along.
This is fantastic, as I bought a Buick Regal TourX last fall and got rid of it to get a Stinger. Wish I had just gotten a Stinger in the first place but was really on a wagon kick. Now I get to keep the best part (hatch /trunk space).

Dodge Magnum SRT8 easily. Was convinced AWD is necessary in the Northeast and I'm not getting a Subaru like my parents. Turns out it's not that necessary and I kinda wish I got the RWD Stinger GT instead but c'est la vie

Back in October 2018, I was hesitating between the Q50 Red Sport with JB4 and the Stinger...after one test drive, I had my answer! Never looked back. I also test drove the Golf R, the Audi S5 and the MB C43 AMG. I wanted the best bang for buck car with room in the back (I have 2 young kids = car seats!). Almost 2 years of ownership, now, and I still think this car's a beauty!

Probably a Camaro SS with the 7 speed manual. Or an Audi S5 Sportback

Probably a Model 3...

The Tesla? Did you test drive it before going with the Stinger? Just wondering how it compares, I mean, on the technology/infotainment side it's certainly different, and instant electric torque will beat out anything with gears. I'm not sure how I'd feel about the minimalism of the Model 3 though; I like all of the buttons and switches associated with the interior of a car. I don't like the idea of driving a computer, but that's just me.

I could live with the Model S I think, especially since it's got the hatchback. Having said that, both vehicles are out of my price range so I suppose it's moot.

Luxury CPO is the way to go. Many offer very attractive APRs for those financing, 2 years scheduled maintenance for free, road-side assistance, and multi-year unlimited mileage warranties.
Not BMW or Audi, the CPO warranty is 12 months, unlimited mileage.

I came from an FT-86 and was eyeing the new supra or maybe a mustang. But i was over having no back door, only fitting half a person in the back seats and grass being taller than my car. Stinger lets me still have fun while having practicality and luxury.

Thread bump instead of starting a new one. Honestly I didn't take my time car shopping but the Stinger will do for now. I rushed without driving anything else and was looking for a car with power that didn't break the bank. I didn't test drive a Mustang or Camaro, which now I regret. But that is my fault. I was simply looking for the fastest car under 50K, which was my budget. I don't need a backseat as it's just me and my wife in our fifties with no kids. I wanted close to 400 hp or more in a car than handled better than my modified Ford Edge Sport. It was fast but wasn't exciting to look at. lol. I had a Camaro Z28 and Firebird Formula in my twenties and wanted that fun again. The Stinger is fun, but I test drove a Mustang GT premium recently. Wow. That exhaust is intoxicating. I didn't get a chance to get on it. It felt smaller than my Stinger. I don't track race or anything. Just want a fast car around town at stoplights really. I drive 60 miles each way for work so originally I discounted the Mustang and Camaro because I was afraid of killing myself in the winter. Never easy choosing a car. If money was no object I would just get a hellcat and have a winter car. But I can only afford and have room for only one car.

I just have a jb4 on my Stinger. I swore I would never modify another vehicle after spending 25K on my Ford Edge Sport after blowing the engine. I spent as much modifying it as I did on the vehicle used. I am a moron I suppose. I could never get the Ford Edge Sport to run correctly with the modified turbos. I had them custom built by Comp Turbo Technology in CA. At the time I just wanted to be in the 12's in the 1/4 mile and under 5 seconds 0-60. Which I did, but I lived with misfires daily and just finally said enough. Nobody could tune it correctly. I had it remote tuned by ZFG racing and dyno tuned at National Speed in VA. But they couldn't tell me why it misfired. All they told me was they could turn back the boost. But then it wasn't fun like that. But here I go again.
