DIY Sequential LED reflector install We're Back :)

Just finished installing these and love how they look. Although I would have preferred a better light diffuser to match the tail lights. Non the less they are very bright and look good.

I have a few suggestions for anyone installing these:
  1. Add additional protection to the circuit board, to prevent any dirt and water from getting in from the sides, where the wires are soldered. I added hot glue to the ends as I noticed that the heat shrink wrap does not fully cover the ends of the board. After the lights are installed you will find that the board hangs low enough to have dirt and water splashed on it when it rains.

2. Having worked installing car stereo equipment for a few years, I learned the importance of having you wires protected and wire management. Fortunately this LED lights come with more than enough cable to reach their installation points, however if you install the lights without cutting your wires to length you will be left with a lot of slack and managing that extra length to look nice in a tight space is difficult.
3. I noticed that the modified LED reflectors had a lot of gaps and in some places the melted plastic on the back part was not sealed properly leaving chance for water to get in and damage the electronics inside. As this parts are installed on the lowest part of the vehicle it is prone to a lot of dust, dirst and water, so I went ahead and resealed it using hot glue.

4. Since the wires are thin and very close to the exhaust tips, I went ahead and wrapped the length that ran behind the bumper, with electrical tape, including the circuit board.
5. If you are still left with some slack, I suggest you fastened the circuit board and any additional wire, to the closest parking sensor harness, this you will prevent the board from rocking back and forth when the car is moving.

Thanks to @StingerGTandMe and @K8 Stinger Store for providing all instruction and products necessary for this installation.

Thank you for your business with us, and for this very informative post on what you did prior to installing the parts.

If you don't mind, could you post this in our forum thread found here: [VENDOR][FS]: Kia Stinger Standard or Sequential LED Bumper Reflector Lights - K8 Stinger Store

Also, would you mind if we used a few of these photos for the site?

Done!

Not at all. Go ahead.:)

Were back guys and if you like this check out k8stingerstore.com

hey mate, does your led board sit smoothly with the bumper cause mine doesnt seem to stick all the way in, theres like a 2mm gap of the led board sticking out...the stock 1 just sit smooth with the bumper.

From interior to exterior to high performance - everything you need for your Stinger awaits you...
Check the back of the reflector and smooth out the surface as best as you can. Since they had to melt the plastic to seal it back, after the LED was installed, maybe some of the melted plastic is preventing it from going all the way in.

Anyone bought the modules only and inserted them into their existing reflectors??

looking good rob

Would be very keen to know how you went. An auto electrician quoted me 70 bucks for half an hour to get these installed for me.

What do you mean? As far as I'm aware they are plug and play with a few splices on each rear harness.

You can buy the LED modules for ~$50 but then you have to insert them into your existing reflector. The ones you buy have been pre-made so that's why they're so expensive.

Oh gotchya....

I also bought the module and thinking I can do it myself by using the original reflector. Long story short it is a fail project to try to open the reflector without damage or breaking the damn thing. I give up and now wait to save enough money to buy the pre made reflector that already been convert with the module.

Thank you for the heads up....I've got the pre-made one and auto electrician has quoted me 70 bucks for install. Just waiting to get the car...3rd of March.

Has anyone installed these and then found a replacement bulb for the rear indicators to make them red as well? I love the look of these!

It's an enclosed unit that you can't access so would love to know if someone has made them red too.
