Did my first launch w/jb4 and TCU tune

Ah way up there from where I was. You put that intercooler to use I bet. Would you recommend the BMS fmic?
I would say the FMIC helps a lot under certain circumstances. Last year at the track, my IAT's were pretty high leading to inconsistent results on repeated runs. They got progressively better as the evening wore on and the outside temps dropped into the '80s.
This year, with the FMIC, I couldn't really tell any difference in performance on repeated runs. And my times were consistent even as it got a little cooler in the evening.
The install was pretty easy too, once I figured out the silly retaining clip on the drivers side (hot) charge pipe inlet.

Good to know. I don’t track my car and live where it’s colder than 30 degrees Fahrenheit for 4 months out of the year so probably wouldn’t be much of a worthwhile mod for me. I think next on the list is either CPI to run e50 or just going to a true ecu tune.

I have thought about a tune, but if you get one assuming E30 or high octane fuel, then it causes a problem for me since I don't have either around me. I can get E85 and mix with 91 around Sacramento when I go to the track, but if I don't happen to go to Sac for a while, I want to be able to use just 91, and with the jb4, I can switch maps, not so easy with an ECU tune.

Yeah that’s true. I can’t wait to see what Sxth Element comes out with for that situation in hopefully the near future.

I read about that, there is a thread specifically talking about the remote unlock and ability to download maps, but I haven't heard anything for a while on that thread.

Yeah same and the tuning device they have is out of stock for the time being. Will be cool when this new wave of tuning hopefully comes out for this platform to what others equate to as similar to the ‘Cobb’ of tuning software.

Amen to that. I think it will all be pretty expensive though. There is the device itself, then they may charge for the remote unlock function. Then you have to pay to get tunes to download on top of that.

Yeah for sure. When I had my ecoboost stuff tuned it was like $500-600 iirc for a tune that included the SCT device but that platform has a LOT more people using it. Same with the DiabloSport tuner for Mopar stuff.

I got the BMS intakes installed yesterday. Of course it rained so I couldn’t get in the car too hard. This morning I took the car out and it drove really good on map 0 since I had the family in the car, but it was 57F out so the cooler weather made for some more power. I plan on getting my dragy setup today and trying a good test run to see where I’m at although I still need to dial in my launches.

I’m trying to figure out now if a full ecu tune will be smarter than dropping $900 on CPI although it looks like Lozic’s stuff isn’t optimized for higher ethanol unless I’m misunderstanding.

Planning to take mine to the track this Wednesday, last Wednesday the high temperature was 114.

So tempting to go on ecu route too…

Ideally I’d go Lap3 on the ecu tune since there seems some success with e60+ without cpi, but man the price. How are you liking the lap3 tcu tune?

Right?! The price tag! Lap3 TCU tune is great. Smooth shifts and fast! No jolts when gear shifts compare to the stock one.

I wonder how all the different TCU tunes stack up against each other. I know the stage 1 Tork is decent especially for the price, but the shift line pressure is way too tame for my taste. I had a shift kit on my Charger that you could dial it in how ever would you wanted and it absolutely kicked. Otherwise the Tork is decent and seems to have quickened the car some and let’s you build boost on launch.
