Cylinder 1+5+Random misfire detected. RaceChip GTS Black

Hm, I thought there were more settings. I think there are too many on the market already to keep track.

Please keep us posted on what they have to say - sorry for your troubles!

As far as I know there are 2 possibilities with the RaceChip: with or without Bluetooth phone app support.

Without phone app: 7 drive modes

With phone app (mine): 3 drive modes

How is the car running since removing the RC? Back to normal or will you need new plugs/coil?

Since removing seems to be normal. The car isn't jerking anymore and I've driven it twice since removing, once keeping it slow and smooth, then second time I drove a little more aggressively and gave it some gas.. smooth acceleration, no signs of problems. Will leave the chip out for a few days to see if the check engine light comes back on.

The seven options are to tune the car to your engine. There are only three drive modes. Just wondering did you try and tune the chip before you started testing? The default tune mode is 5. RC should walk you through it when the get ahold of you to diagnose the problem.

From interior to exterior to high performance - everything you need for your Stinger awaits you...
Sounds like spark blowout. Could be a lot worse. I didn't realize the bluetooth interface took options away - that seems silly.

The bluetooth does not. Without it you have to open your hood to access your unit to change the driver modes. There are only 3 eco, sport and race. The 7 options are to tune your car.

Thanks for the clarification!

Okay, see this is news to me. First time I hear of 7 tune settings on top of the 3 drive modes. Any ideas how you change the tune? Do you have to take apart the chip?

Yeah i thought the racechip came with several tunes. Personally I'm hesitant to buy the highest end version simply because the chances of issues happening at the most aggressive tunes are much higher.

Nope, you don't have to take the unit apart. It is in the installation instructions under part 4 fine tuning, specifically on page 15. You can only tune the chip with the ignition on but not the engine. The moment the engine comes on it goes into drivers modes and you can no longer tune. Hope that helps.

First, I didn't say it was a big deal. I said regardless of tune we will probably need to regap our plugs.

Second, I said "any chip maker" not "Race Chip, exclusively" since, you know...EVERY chip maker's tunes so far have had the same exact issues...

yes, but so far racechip has had the best results. maybe i'm just being overly optimistic but i'd really like to see at least one of these chip manufacturers get it right the first time.

the gts black comes with everything including the light versions. what that high end version gives you is the ability to continue moving to a higher level if and when you want to. the cheaper versions don't. if you're going to spend a few hundred dollars on a chip you might as well go the extra mile and get everything.

it's sounding to me like this whole issue could have been avoided. am i right or am i reading into this wrong?

O_O I feel like I should have known this. Maybe I'll reinstall the chip and lower the setting to 1 to start like the manual suggests and try it from there.

it wouldn't hurt to edit the first post with some of this new information.

I mean I wouldn't say it could have been avoided. The Chip is advertised as plug and play and the instructions say "the chip has been tuned to your vehicle so no changes should be needed".

I installed the chip as per the instructions and I'm sharing my results. As far as I'm concerned this is still a problem and valuable info, for both users and RaceChip. If to get the chip "working" in my vehicle I need to drastically lower the performance to nearly stock, I would say the chip isn't worth it.

Well unfortunately none have got it right the first time. So how about we stop pretending any of them are above reproach and find a solution that those of us who have bought tunes can live with.

I assure you, getting angry with the chip users or asking that they remove relevant information from their reviews will do more harm than good for the rest of the community.

did somebody ask for the removal of relevant information?

i don't want to sound like a racechip fan boy but i'm rooting for them. i love the stinger inside and out but it has to respond well to tunes for me to buy it. that's all i'm waiting for. so i admit i'm a little anxious to see a solid option and hope we have that with racechip.

From what I'm reading, this may be an issue of not having followed the installation instructions. I'm waiting to hear what happens.
