Not to say I told you so.... But....
Not to say I told you so.... But....
Lol what did you tell me?
That Race Chip is now recommending gapping stock plugs down for use with their products.
EDIT: RaceChip was in the default setting of 5 and in "Sport" drive mode.
Link: Racechip GTS Black Review #3 (unboxing/install video)Yes. To be honest while I had mine, it ran better in Race mode than Sport. I basically had it in Race mode only and the car in sport. Thing rocked and was wicked fast I scared my passengers.
I got 1 check engine light, cleared It then it ran good again for a couple days. It wasn't till I knocked the chip down to sport as well that I started having big issues.
According to your first post it seemed like you were only driving in "Sport" mode while using 91 octane.
In another thread you admitted now, that you were driving in Race mode while using 91 octane.

This is sad, because it makes a big difference for us. It is very important to get very precise information about any issue.
And it has an impact on what everybody else in this forum thinks about RaceChip. We recommended to use the Race mode only with 93 octane.
So with this updated information, please let me emphasize following:
However, we will not change our recommendation again. It's a fact that Kia has some issues with their spark plugs.
- There has not been a single issue yet with a RaceChip used with 93 octane.
- There has not been a single issue yet with a RaceChip where the maximum setting used was "Sport" (or 5).
All the information I've posted has been accurate. Sorry if there is confusion as there is information scattered around 2-3 different threads at this point.
The issue pertaining to this thread (Cylindar 1/5/random misfire) all occured with the Chip in "Sport" mode. People were aksing what mode and setting I was in when this happened. That's where that edit comes from. That being said, I've said before in these forums that I pretty much always had the chip in Race mode prior to this. It's hard to pin-point what mode is causing issues when there are 27 different possible combinations between the car and the chip.
I've always stressed that I believe I am the first to experience issues with the RaceChip and I've said that it may have been caused by damage over time from being in Race mode. While it worked for me, it was fantastic.
You may wish to clear this up in other areas as well.
So it wasn't in Sport mode at the time you noticed the problem, but it had been in Race mode previously, yes?
