ATQ Subframe Collars

I'll try and see if I can get the plates back on this weekend, did you cut the tabs as well?
Nope. Once the nut was on ok I got my impact and then my tq wrench.

Just as a second opinion, since it may happen to you. I used my impact and the tabs didn't flatten out enough, leaving a mm or so of space. I just grinded the tabs down, so the plates would sit flat. The tabs are useless, as they don't fit into any slot with the new collars.

If you read some posts prior that, there it is debated what should be done with the plate because it does not fit with the collars. So I understand that answer in the way that you are supposed to leave the plates off.

At least im going to leave them off when installing. In K8stingerstores instructions plates arent mentioned at all, would be nice if it was clearly stated if they are supposed to be forced in possibly damaging collars or leaved off.

We can only provide instructions given to us from the manufacturer, which were updated at some point after the original DIY was posted.

Here is the latest information provided from the manufacturer that we have on our website:

How do you like those subframe braces? Did you try them individually or slap on all 3 at once...im wondering if one of them you would consider a priority over the others. Did you upgrade your sway bars too?

Regarding these collars, has anyone thought to notch the collars themselves- maybe with an angle grinder in a vice, so they don't interfere with re-installing the plates?? Just a thought, I have set of these collars ready to get installed, basically my first mod.

Correct in that they are not mentioned in the instructions, hence the confusion by the community. This has led most of us to trim off the tabs with a grinder. I initially tried the impact, but the tabs didn't make a dent in the collars.

You will see that the tabs serve a purpose in the factory setup, but not in the aftermarket collar setup. I wanted to keep the plates so it looked factory and someone down the line didn't think they were missing, thinking something much worse had occurred, such as an accident or whatever.

Yeah, I have front sway bar, collars, and all 3 subframe braces installed, will install rear sway bar this weekend. Swaybar definitely helps with turns, and the other mods help tighten everything up going over bumps, cracks, an uneven road/highway surfaces. Car feels more refined and buttoned up. I do recommend spending your money on performance mods before these. One thing to keep in mind is if you have an ark exhaust it will hit the brace causing rattle, fixes with some sound deadening in between

I can confirm that nothing needed to be done with the tabs on my 2020 Stinger GT Ltd. The manufacturer did the install on my car (with me watching) yesterday and it was really simple and no custom work was required.

Thank again to Tomi from ATQ for doing a great job and making the experience a lot of fun!

I will also add that this mod made a large difference in ride quality and handling so far after putting on 100km's since install.

That's good. I guess they just smoosh them in with torque then?

Placing the collar all the way down onto to the bolt to where it should sit and then torqueing (smooshing) them into place.

I assume that some people are putting the Collar into place and then torqueing the bolt in over it, which may be the cause of some headaches.

Depends on what you mean by "them" (collar or plate?).

The problem is that *sometimes* the plate comes off with the bolt. It seems to me that when ATQ wrote the instructions that just didn't happen (the plate stayed in place) and they never expected it to happen. The plate should stay on the car, the collar go on the bolt, then the collar slides INSIDE the fingers of the plate.

So it's Plate, Collar, Bolt.

Folks that are having problems are doing Collar, Plate, Bolt.

Yes, the collar slips right inside the fingers. Worked perfectly on mine.

You way sounds exactly correct.

In this video is appears incorrect.

He is installing collar, plate, nut.

When. He should be installing plate, collar, but.

After installing collar kit and Ultra Racing braces the annoying sound like something is loose in the rear end has developed. Gets less pronounced after the car heats up.
Any ideas guys please?

Could this be the rear hatchback that needs the shim? This fix is out there, just search if you think it might be...
