2020 Stinger Rumors

The orange is sweet looking, makes the Stinger pop, but I also wouldn't get it as am not Mr. Leo, lol

Funny you say that, people keep telling me I'm going to get tickets, lmfao... It really is a very vibrant and deep orange. The website pictures aren't even close to what it looks like in person, but that's mostly because of what kind of camera or digital composition they used to generate the color match to the physical paint. Here's mine after I did paint correction myself (thanks stealership for swirling it up so bad!):

Kia doesn't do marketing well. Their car builder tool for the Stinger has been mostly useless since 2017.
Kia only have themselves to blame if the Stinger sales are less than what they had hoped for. I've seen next to nothing in terms Stinger marketing for the past year or so. Even the Stinger Saloon near me has closed.

Stealership like this should get the blame too. A few weeks back while getting raped getting an oil change at the stealership, I snapped this pic on a GT2 that they had parked front and center of the showroom floor.

Wow. Robbery. Did you at least get a shot of the custom wheels?

"Added Markup"

Thankfully here in the Northeast there is plenty of competition; I'm willing to go as far as Rhode Island to get a deal on a Stinger and there are dealers selling them up to $8K off MSRP.

"Theft Patrol" = $1295. The dealership (aka "stealership" as you say) is charging the customers a ripoff fee.

I *SWEAR* this isn't "disagree with ZyroXZ2" week.. (re: the NOS thread). I saw a GTS in person at the dealer when getting my first oil change. It's at least 4-5 shades lighter (in my mind, anyway) than the Challenger/Charger orange, which I like more. I could be wrong - a lot this is subjective, prone to memory lapses, etc.. Dodge orange, or a burnt sienna type, I would like more.

Now, I'm not saying you're wrong for liking it - color is a VERY personal preference. I've owned silver, red, green, black and now grey cars. Thought about blue, but my wife hated the Stinger blue and the red. My first choice for the Stinger this time was white, but couldn't find a white GT1 AWD within 500 miles, except for one they already added a bunch of stuff to that I didn't want, and they weren't budging on near-MSRP price. Then, my car died (rear diff or driveshaft) and I needed a new car ASAP. Plus, I liked the ceramic silver well enough and it was 3 miles from my house and available that day.

If they offered a green like on some of the Charger Scat Packs, I would totally have gone for that. I'm glad you like the orange. It simply doesn't do much for me. Now, is it as bad as the yellow? No (*&@#$ way - if I had to choose, I'd take the orange 10 times out of 10 over the yellow. I had a deal for like $10K off MSRP for a re-painted yellow '18 GT1 AWD 6-9 months earlier, and just couldn't get past the thought of having to park that in the company parking lot.. I COULD live with the orange, but it's still a con, not a pro, in my mind..

Those are great looking wheels but probably not worth $3,000.
How is that a deal? the OEM wheels, a set of four of them, would cost $2,520. So, basically the dealer kept the OEM wheels and substituted cheaper and charged three thousand more. (Look at the rust on those rotors, heh.) "Theft Patrol"!? I never heard. They're saying: "Buy from us, in our shitty neighborhood, and it'll cost you." And then a markup on top of that. Unfreakingbelievable. Do people still move TO California!?

Those wheels look to be $1300 for a set, so this is a next level ripoff.

SOMEONE'S WRONG ON THE INTERNET!:mad::mad: Hahaha

Now, while I DO agree that color is personal preference, the colors characteristics are not. I guarantee you it's a lot more vivid than you think as opposed to the shade of orange. There are darker shades of orange than this, and lighter ones, but I have only seen colors this vivid on more expensive cars or straight up supercars. While color is subjective, its nature is not outside of clinical issues like color blindness. Neon pink is vibrant to everyone even if they hate the color. If color was so subjective that even its characteristics were, then safety vests and traffic cones would surely not serve their purposes, lol

I had just taken a picture yesterday after work because all of my paint correction (80% swirl reduction, didn't go at it until it was swirl free) and detailing products I slapped on it seemed to be working really well in which the rain storm was a free car wash. This was taken after sundown (but still aiming light up into the clouds) with overcast and it actually started pouring rain on the way home again. So even without direct sunlight covered in rain drops, it stands out this much. I think the one at the stealership was either covered in a layer of dirt, or the surface was swirled so badly that it was "lightening" up the color. Even my white Stinger didn't get this much attention, and it's because of the orange being so vivid.

Those are TSW "Sprints" in machined face black the same as mine if I'm not mistaken. Mine are 19" . The cost $515 AUD ea fitted so I doubt if they're going to total $3,000 USD?

Edit my mistake they are Vertini so they would defintely be more. I know they were my orginal choice but out of my price range. It's ok I'll crawl back to my hole now:D.

So, if it has an Italian name it's automatically worthy of a higher price? $515 is already way up there for a wheel. The $630 charged by Kia for an OE wheel is of course ridiculous. But, if Vertini is even more than the TSW, then the wheels are practically a straight swap. How can the dealer really expect buyers to be that stupid? "Please, trade wheels and give me Vertinis." That would be okay. But, "Please steal the wheels off my car (despite my forking over thirteen hundred bucks for Theft Patrol); then make me pay hundreds more than OEM to replace them. I'm okay with that!"

Fair enough. I'm no color expert. I don't even play one on TV.

I hereby formally concede the debate to ZyroXZ2, beg for humble pardon and recant my errant ways. :-)

Well shit, I was just about to redact my entire post and say that color really is pure preference, and say that this vivid orange may not be for everyone so you are therefore entitled to your opinion thus making you the winner.

:sneaky::p

I kind of like the orange. Not a big fan of bumblebee yellow or rad red. As far as being a cop magnet, I don't plan on getting caught. Radar detectors save lives.

Told by a Kia dealership today that the Stinger is coming out with a cosmetic update in the third quarter of this year, 2020.
