• PLEASE! It is VERY important that this area is not used for the discussion of technical issues with your Stinger. This section is for posting about regional-specific things like Stinger clubs, events, local vendor or dealer recommendations, KiaStinger.com member sightings, etcetera... In other words, I do NOT want people to need to scour through several different sections to find answers about their heads up display. That's why there's a section dedicated specifically to discussions like that. THANK YOU!

2019 Map Update now available online

OK, so after a quick drive; I've noticed the following:

1. GPS Speed seems much slower at updating now. Like about 1 second behind actual speed. Before it was way quicker
2. Radio favorites are now sorted in alphabetical order - which is mega annoying because I had them set in the order I wanted. Deleting/readding makes no difference to order.
3. The radio text is also very small / cramped in the centre box. Half the screen is wasted on the station name display. Who designed this UI
Also noticed my navigation favourites at the bottom of the map screen had disappeared (Home etc) re-entered them but now apparently you can't give them a name

Did they fix the screen brightness on the 360 camera mode? It was disconnected from the display setting brightness. So at night, BOOM, you get a super bright 360 camera screen WTF? The contrast was fubar too. Both were much betting 2 versions ago.
Brightness and contrast can be adjusted for day or night conditions.

Yes I know the function exist in the ui for the camera settings, but it not adjustable to the same level as previously and/or as to be same as display/instrument lighting settings. It is super fkn annoying (to me) that they disconnected this, because I like cabin lighting to be really low. Might sound like a small thing but every time I backup at night, it give me the shits. Rant over man. I'm good now.

Also when you change the A/C temperature now too little coloured blue/white/orange bars appear based on the cooling/heating mode.

Now not being able to specify the radio presets order though is really pissing me off though. I had my popular stations grouped together for quick access via the steering wheel buttons - then my "B grade" radio stations grouped next in line if my primary stations are no good.

I've updated successfully.

I notice that the NAV map whether 2D or 3D presentation is not like the last release but the one prior and it's ugly as sh*t. I liked the NAV map presentation in the last release.

Is it just me?

Also the Radio selection view changed and prefer to the list view, so had to go through the menu to change it to list view.

Funky colors for the icons.

The sat nav search keyboard is also smaller now - the previous full screen width was great for fat fingers.

The Destination ETA time & Cancel Route buttons are now on the opposite side of the screen. This is further to reach

And the new A/C Climate screen is frankly terrible. Text far too tiny. It was perfect before. (Not that I ever used it!)

Sure new features are great - but they've really screwed around with some of the basic UI design fundamentals. It probably looked great on their software development PC's - but some of these new screens are not that functional in reality.

Update done, but I do note that the actual GPS speed that showed above the speed limit sign has now gone (is this normal as I cannot find anywhere in the settings to reactivate it), but you get a speed warning which shows your actual speed above the speed limit sign when approaching fixed or red light speed cameras.2B57D1E3-4231-411E-BD46-60F135A889B1.webp

You can switch it back on. It’s in the navigation settings I think.

Had to go check - its in settings/navigation/display/information where there’s a check box for ‘Display Vehicle Speed’

Completed as well. Some pretty colours added but I prefer colour of previous map display. Would like to see currency of nav maps rather than a few bells and whistles. I'll report later on a certain fixed speed camera removed some 6-8 years ago to see if it's still "there".
Well that speed camera is still "there". It's a pity Kia chose to use a substandard map/nav provider.

Totally agree mate it’s substandard, IMO it’s the worst feature in the car, my wife’s Cerato sat nav is 10 time better & the car was a 3rd of the price.

I would have thought same 3rd party provider but apparently not.

No they are different & Cerato does not have sd card so dealer has to update it, updated version is available for hers since last November, dealer quoted $220 for the update, LMFAO I think not, I could buy 3 navmans with free lifetime map upgrades or just use Waze through CarPlay.
$220 they must be kidding.

My wife has a 2019 Cerato GT, it has an SD card and I updated her maps and software using the same website as the Stingers.
Must admit I thought they’d all have an SD card now from a certain year. Wouldn’t be paying that for map updates either, I used to have a Mercedes C class 2018 they wanted $999 to update the map - must have been pretty special.

Hi all
New owner of MY21 stinger GT here. I also recently completed the May software update on the new 10.25 screen and noticed that I have lost all school zone alerts which were previously working fine.

I have confirmed that school zone alerts are ticked in the settings screen (both day and night sections) with no luck. other alerts seem to be working ok. Currently waiting on a response from KIA.

I was wondering if anyone else had experienced the same issue since updating? I also updated my wife’s 2019 Cerato GT and it appears to be having the same issue.

Thanks. In that case I am wondering if it might be a region related issue (Gold Coast) with the new maps given both our Stinger and Cerato are experiencing the same issue since the update.
I will see what KIA come back with.
