• PLEASE! It is VERY important that this area is not used for the discussion of technical issues with your Stinger. This section is for posting about regional-specific things like Stinger clubs, events, local vendor or dealer recommendations, KiaStinger.com member sightings, etcetera... In other words, I do NOT want people to need to scour through several different sections to find answers about their heads up display. That's why there's a section dedicated specifically to discussions like that. THANK YOU!

2019 Map Update now available online

So did the "map update" which is obviously also a system update too. With minor tweaks and improvements across a few things... mostly all good. However the brightness of the screen when in in camera/reverse mode at night is super fkn bright and the adjustments can't seem to reduce it enough either ... has anyone else noticed this?

Yes it is brighter. A few people have noted they see this in earlier posts. Though I've not tried to adjust it as I like it (and better for me than it was before).

I wonder with NSW laws to remove signage of speed camera's like the 24/7 camera's, if nav providers will be required to remove notification of speed camera alerts?

Yes but it comes back when you are in a call on the active call screen.

No notifications for an Australia/NZ update as yet. Apparently Kia said they would be doing them twice yearly, last one for us was 9th November 2020 so fingers crossed for early May for the next one.

Hopefully when they do put out the next update they remove some of the “features” of the last one that make it annoying and put back some of the things they removed from the earlier versions. There’s a few things in the current version that annoy the crap out of me.

As we are 1 to 2 updates behind the US, check out their updates and that will tell you what to expect next, as they just change the maps for Australia and everything else is exactly the same!

I guess Kia test the update in the US first and then if there are no problems, we get it a year or two later...lol

Mines updated Only wish I could change the icon colour other then that very nice setup

Just did my update ..love new radio interface

Completed as well. Some pretty colours added but I prefer colour of previous map display. Would like to see currency of nav maps rather than a few bells and whistles. I'll report later on a certain fixed speed camera removed some 6-8 years ago to see if it's still "there".

Yup, nice improvement.

sadly the new update f&*%ed up the AA on the 2021 and up models. Now i permanently have 2/3 of my screen with AA and the other 1/3 is locked to the AA icon. i cant even put the clock there anymore. How hard is it to make it do widescreen AA like carplay has.

Update completed successfully

Also keen to see if some map corrections have been made - eg defunct nudgee speed camera in the 90 zone (now 100) - which freaked it out every time previously

OK, so after a quick drive; I've noticed the following:

1. GPS Speed seems much slower at updating now. Like about 1 second behind actual speed. Before it was way quicker (Update: Today it doesn't seem as bad - perhaps it was slow at detecting all the satellites again after being reset?)
2. Radio favorites are now sorted in alphabetical order - which is mega annoying because I had them set in the order I wanted. Deleting/readding makes no difference to order.
3. The radio text is also very small / cramped in the centre box. Half the screen is wasted on the station name display. Who designed this UI

Did they fix the screen brightness on the 360 camera mode? It was disconnected from the display setting brightness. So at night, BOOM, you get a super bright 360 camera screen WTF? The contrast was fubar too. Both were much betting 2 versions ago.
