It seems if my car sits even just for short period of time and you back out of the driveway and proceed to drive it will make a short grinding noise on initial acceleration going forward. Anyone else have this issue? It’s 2018

Yes...I have this! Exactly as you say and a 2018 for me as well. I have no idea what it is, I was thinking maybe it was the springs or struts or something unloading or loading or something doing something funky.

Could just be rotor build up from sitting and clears up after a few brake presses
Hmmmm...I never thought of that or heard of that (I'm not a car guy, more of a tv watcher guy). I'd imagine this is standard across our cars or even others? It may not matter, but I had the stock rotors before...it did it. I have cross drilled and slotted and it still does it. Can it be "fixed"?

It's just surface rust. It's not an issue or fixable unless you garage it. Doesn't hurt anything. Only cause for concern is if it always stays and a wheel is hotter than the others which generally indicates a stuck pad/caliper (for reference) but not your current issue based in what you've mentioned

Surface rust.. if it doesn’t rain and I got into a store for say 10 minutes and come out it will do it.. or if there was zero rain and it’s morning it will do it.. even noticed when I turn the wheel it does it too at the start

I have this too and it has nothing to do with the brakes. My car is garage kept and it does this every time i back out, even on a sunny 90 degree day with spotless rotors. It sounds like it's coming from the transmission. If you back up and turn, and then shift in to drive and move forward, it makes a quick, half secondish long noise. Its hard to describe. I've noticed, if you wait a few seconds, or if you back up or drive forward straight, it doesn't do it. The stinger is not the first car I've had that does this though. I'm pretty sure my chevy blazer did this also.

Man I’m having this issue and idk what’s going on!!!

do you feel this in the brake peddle perhaps?? it does the "grind" sound and if you have your foot on the brake you can feel it sometimes as the abs module does it's self check at the start of a drive at a specific speed. All vehicles i've had that have abs do this.

every time i back out
Why don't you try to back into the garage or driveway. When you then the next day drive forward out of the garage or the driveway, do you still experience the grinding sound? Maybe worth a try.

Ebrake taking a second to disengage?

Push harder on the brakes when shifting from R to D or vice versa?

Nope. Only happens when I reverse first.

nah it doesn't do it when you shift. its when you start moving. After you've moved a foot or 2, you hear it.

Ever figure this out? Mine’s done it twice now and I’m worried its the diff or powertrain related. Its such a short duration and has only happened twice in the past week so I cant fully tell where its coming from

nope. 3 years into ownership, it still does it every time I reverse out of my garage and then put in in drive and start rolling forward. Did it before and after getting a new transmission and drive shaft (those were replaced because of unrelated issues)

does this noise occur only when cold and doing a slow tight turn? Lots of LSD's make noise when cold and turning.. kinda like a grinding/growling noise. Our lsd definitely growls every time we do our first turn out of our driveway when it hasn't been driven in a day or so.
