3.3TT Quicksilver Exhaust Systems

Thanks for the note Brian, much appreciated. I will keep that in mind but I will wait to install the extensions until after the appointment I have with the shop on Friday. I agree, nothing is rubbing anywhere to cause any vibrations but when I see comments that Stillen would rattler the change, that is similar to what I am experiencing. You can feel the vibrations by simply putting your hand on the center console. Could it be a bad install, it very well possibly could which is why I'm going to a different shop than who I had install it.

for what its worth, my exhaust pipes are 3 1/8 inches from fake tip to end of pipe.
Meaning if your pipes are more than that away, that could be the cause of drone, since mine are deeper into the fake tips

I think I can say I officially hate the tips... looks so cheap, like a step up from a base civic... such a shame on a nice exhaust, they really need to go back to the drawing board on those

Thank you Brian, this is great information. I just checked and my passenger side barely reaches the fake exhaust tip and puts it a little over 4 inches away from the end of fake tips. My drivers side is very close to the 3 1/4 mark as you mentioned.

This is so perplexing to me, as I have zero drone, zero vibration. I have normal aftermarket exhaust noise at around 2000rpms, but nothing i would complain about. Stillen was unbearable. Borla is basically a straight thru muffler, so no gases bouncing around inside, but rasp was horrible. Again, my set up may be different and my installation and clearances different. There is nothing remotely close to rubbing anywhere that may cause vibration. Stillen would rattle the change in my console. I can have at least 10 members verify what I am saying ,which makes it odd that Eric's is so pronounced. Eric look for a package this week, which will include simple bolt on adapters that will effectively extend the tips further into the fake tips, and see if the drone is gone, or minimized. Simple 10-15 min install, and can be done from underneath easy enough.
If it is still an issue Eric, and you want to sell it, I would happily purchase the Sport system from you, as I have three customers local who want it
I had some considerable drone on the drive home when I got the first gen QS bolted in. I slid the passenger slide muffler as far back as it would go when I got home, and that made things a little better. Then I stuffed the tips with muffler wrap. That practically eliminated the drone. Yes, it was a little louder at 2k than stock with the wrap, but at that point it was not much louder at 2k than the rest of the rev range. Lovely inside the car, actually. Keeping the muffler tape from moving was a bit of a challenge, even with metal dryer hose clamps, so when it got loud, I had to go back under the car and push the wrap back into the pipes. (that exhaust wrap is some of the nastiest stuff i've worked with, btw. I hate fiberglass.)

I sold the QS because it was actually quieter outside of the car than the stock units while going up my office parking deck. (yes, i guess I am *that* guy. Shrug) I suppose if the tips I ordered from aliexpress had gotten here in time, perhaps that would have changed my opinion, even though it would have required another trip to the muffler shop to get the pipes lined up well enough for the tips to slide in to the bumper. There is no way those tips were going to fit the way the passenger side muffler was hanging on my car.

I am awaiting to see the feedback from sport buyers to see if the note is improved and the fit is better. then I might bite again.

new system is 25% louder with 5% increase in the cabin, so it will actually be able to be heard while driving. Which is a plus for me, cause I like the burbles and pops while slowing down. I have helped many of the others figure out how to center the Sport system without too much effort, which would allowed the aftermarket tips to go right on. I am excited to get this new system on the day I get it.

Dang might cancel order fellas untill more feedback comes in. Its the tips for me.

Hmmm, not quite sure how to start this, so here goes. I completely understand some people's reluctance on going through with the purchase, after they have done the pre-order. Due to certain people's reviews, biased or unbiased, heard in person, or not. I get it. If the test car had zero mods before the system, and now has a specific ,purpose built system which was going for increased volume, then maybe that is what is being considered drone? I'm not sure, and cannot speculate, but it is a possibility. The Stillen catback I had was horrible for drone. I sold it to a friend, who other than cosmetic mods, that was his only performance enhancer. He has nothing but great things to say about it, and never once mentioned horrible drone in the cabin. FYI he is a compulsive neat freak and perfectionist, and I was skeptical of even selling it and installing it for him because of the drone I had, and the potential for him hating it. Just the opposite.
The tips, to me are irrelevant, but they are there for a reason. Could they be a different shape, yes, but I believe they were going after the design of the new Stinger's exhaust. If I don't like how they look, I will simply trim the pipe back to be inside the tips, and install whatever tip or no tip that I prefer. For me, it's not a big deal. Shame that they were trying to give us a better looking exhaust with included tips, and it is turning people off. It is growing on me. If need be, I will paint the visible part of the muffler black for a stealth look, and will be nearly invisible.
The few who have cancelled, have really put them and us in a position. The idea was a certain amount preorder for that price and then pay the balance upon shipment. Since some have cancelled, and cost the company refund fee's, they are losing even more money, and are standing behind the original price, even though orders have been cancelled. So if it turns out to be the system that I think it will, that price point will be gone for those now wanting it. But again, I get it.
They do have more ideas in the works for other options, and I hope they aren't going to shelve any future plans or ideas because of this. Some people and posts can be toxic, intended or otherwise, and I am certainly not saying that is what happened or is happening. Just have seen shit go south from people trolling or sabotaging buys on purpose. I have seen firsthand what is has done to several of the FB groups that I was in, and now friends are enemies. Stupid. All I can say is, i have tried my best to bring this company and their product to our groups, they have bent over backwards to get test cars and design this to the best of their abilities. Once I have it in hand and installed, then I have zero to say about how it sounds specifically with my setup, other than i like what i heard on the video's and am pretty sure I will keep the rolled tip look. Sorry to go on

Thanks for that. I DO feel bad feeling I needed to cancel, esp. as I was #20. I obviously, like others, had high hopes and great expectations and enjoyed the feedback in emails from Ollie. But for personal context - the seeming realities of the honest review as well as the tips and so much uncertainty as well as all the recommended "fixes" "adjustments" and "added materials" esp. when I would not be doing the install myself really weighed on me. I bought this car just as the pandemic took hold, lost a 17 year part time job, and had investments tank all at the same time, so spending additional $$$$ for what might be an uncertain course/outcome left me feeling it was wise to pass. I apologize if this puts QS, you, and other potential customers in a tough spot.

Completely understood, and appreciate your honesty. Just spoke with them a few minutes ago, and all is well, and someone will take your place, no worries. Also noted that for those installing themselves, that the few extra nuts and bolts, which arent a big deal, until you have to run out and get them, would be a nice addition if possible.

Any future buys will 100% go through myself, and I will pass on any savings that I am able to. So if anyone is interested after this batch ships, then you must contact me personally. I was able to at least get Quicksilver to leave that door open, since so far we have had a really good relationship, and the potential is there for more product.
I will say, those looking to give a big F U to the neighbors and their ear drums, I may have something for you. But be warned

For me, it doesn't matter. I'm the second one to put down a deposit for the Super Sport and have been following what has been happening with this system on a lot of different social media platforms. It literally blows my mind to hear what QS is doing for a (correct me if I'm wrong) very small number of cars and make little profit if any. I'm still in and willing to pay a little bit more if needed, I would hate to see them lose money after all they've done.
Thank you for everything you,QS and everybody involved with the R&D have done, it's very impressive.

if my job security was not a factor rite now I would purchase these paint the mufflers and tips black and enjoy. I reached out to them about purchasing this system in the future when my job was secure and they said absolutely but at a different price. In the meantime I just set their video into a loop and use android auto to play it through the stereo and it sounds amazing.

I'm surprised the deposit was refundable. My understanding was that they were taking pre-order deposits to help fund the R&D for the new system so why refund those deposits?

In the future, anyone in this group or other's who want this system for less than advertised, it must come through me, and I will get you taken care of. Thanks for the opportunity to help you

I don't think you should cancel a system that you have pre-ordered. It hurts the whole process and might delay this endevour even more. That is just my opinion. I think that Quiksilver is doing a stand up thing giving people their deposit back. That does speak volumes of the company that they are.

Believe me, I didn't want to. But still too many unknowns/potential pitfalls for the outlay, for me. If/when things are better established/seamless and drone/vibrations addressed and demonstrably mitigated without custom work-arounds, I'd love to be a satisfied customer!

I think it's an amazing sounding system... and I highly discount drone reports in any system (read enough reports and there are so many contradictions, and different people have different sensitivities) I would be all over this system is the current job situation was more stable, and would have been on pre order otherwise. The tips I hate, and wish they either made nicer ones, or left them off., but as other have mentioned it's a very easy fix to cut them off and keep the stock tips... it won't stop me from ordering

But you didn't know any of that when put down the deposit anyway. You pulled out, which jeopardizes the group buy, based on 1 review ? Nobody knows how the system will sound on their own car, and how much you will enjoy/dislike it until you are driving it in the conditions you drive it in.

After talking with Brian, the original QS exhaust system is significantly quieter and I am extremely happy with this. At cruising speeds 70+ the drone is gone and I don't have the loud boombox sound as I used to have. We were able to move the passenger side back about 3/4 of a inch further in the exhaust tips and what difference that made. Thanks again!
