Black Chrome Discoloring

any news on the chrome "restoration" ?

My black chrome had a lot of spots that looked corroded. What I've started doing is, when washing, I give all the black chrome a little extra love, I make sure NO water dries on it. I dry off all the black chrome first, then proceed to dry the rest of the car. No more weird discoloration anymore.

if you apply wax the water wont leave marks , if you have marks use a "cleaner wax" , it will remove the spots and last for 4 or 5 washes megs.webp

I can't visualize a labor efficient way of doing that. When I wash my car I do the rear from the windshield back, then dry that off. The hood and front grill get washed and dried after that. The water never dries on the dark chrome before I thoroughly rub it dry. No water spots ever form; mainly because I rub them dry before the spots get a chance to form; and also because I wash with soft water.

If I do find a bit of spotting (nobody's perfect), I hit the area with a spray bottle (soft water with a tad of ammonia) and wipe dry with a microfiber. Works every time.

all this for paint correction ??

Here is what my trim looks like, the spots are actually fragments of the remaining coating.
Kinda looks like oil from your hand

I have Meguiar's cleaning wax paste in a can. Very nice stuff. I've filled in light scratches with it and so far haven't had to renew the original three coats I gave it.

I have to say the synthetic wax is a very user friendly product. Easy on, simple to wipe off after the whole car is done. Just waiting for the sun to come out agian so I can go for a drive and take some pictures to show the folks the beautiful shine. Thanks for the tips and tricks westcoastGT.....Your the Man!!!

Ok guys.....just picked up GT2 white with red interior on Saturday......love almost everything EXCEPT this black chrome crap.....checked with a reputable dealer who says wrapping front grille would be nearly impossible .....don't really have spots to attach to.....any reasonable choices out there.....paint, replacing etc?

You can have it wrapped or you can go with the Carbon fiber replacements.
