Glossy Black Stinger Lettering

I painted mine but the adhesive got messed up in the process and I made a mess adding glue to stick it on the car. Paint is good but glue looks sloppy. I’ll be taking it off and just adding the chrome one soon. I spent more on paints and time than buying the glossy one for $85.

Check the can. High gloss rusteium for outdoor use on plastics / metal. No need. They be shiney.

Again if I were to use “perfect match” automotive paint, yes, prep, prime, adhesion promoter, paint, wet sand, clear, wet sand, polish, seal.

But yes this is a friggin badge!!!

At the end of the day for someone to go through the process of making a chrome one with the wet sanding, the clear coat and the rest of it, somehow they were able to get that total cost down to only $16.

I'm looking for a glossy black option that has been mass-produced without having to spend 85 bucks.

Any other suggestions?

Yes, pretty much anything can be delivered to Australia. We've sold quite a few custom badges to customers over there.

What do you all think looks best on the Ceramic Silver? Matte black or glossy black? My gut tells me that matte black would look better but would it look odd with the glossy black accents that come standard on the Stinger?

Your gut is correct IMHO. When people ask my opinion on whether to go with matte or glossy, the answer is always glossy for the specific reason you mentioned--the lower/central parts of the rear bumper is glossy so go with the option that's consistent.

Hey Guys, is there anywhere else we can get the stinger script in glossy black without having to pay $85? Seems like a bit of a ripoff from importshark.

I mean, the chrome script from the stingerforum store is only $16, then jumps to $39 for carbon, then just to get it shiny with no carbon from importshark it's $85? See where i'm going here?

Is there any other store that doesn't have such ridiculous charge for black shiny?

Customization is not cheap. Doing things the RIGHT WAY is not cheap. However $85 is not expensive either--especially when we're talking about a $40-$50k car. You're probably stuck on KDM pricing as the baseline. Go check your local dealership to see how much the North American-spec Stinger lettering costs. That's much more realistic.

Also, the Stinger store "carbon" is hydrodipped, which is hardly a showroom finish. Hydrodip doesn't have professional clearcoat either. As a middle ground comparison it actually makes sense though--basic, middle ground option, best option. (I'm not even going to bother addressing the spraypaint thing). Obviously the cost will increase as you go up in appearance/presentation. I can assure you there's no "ridiculous charge" at all. If you think we're making a mint on these, you're fooling yourself. Keep in mind there's a reason why no other vendor is offering something like this. It's just not easy to do.

These can either sell out in a week or sit on the shelf for 2 months. The Kia market is miniscule and can't support much inventory investment.

I picked one up because it was so inexpensive, and trying it out will give me an idea if I like it. I am not sure if it’s a knock off, the one I got, but it looks decent to me. We will see when I put it on.

Yeah. Two weeks. I had time to spare because my ceramic coat was scheduled next week.

I agree with everything you wrote - but what I quoted... Now you know more about this stuff than I do - I'm new to the whole KDM emblem thing. But the hydro-printed pieces in my store are sprayed with a high quality UV resistant automotive clear coat. They haven't been touched by the hand of God or anything - but they do look really good - and I haven't had anyone complain yet...

Thanks for the info. Do you all stand behind the lifespan of your finish in any way? Is there any warranty against wear? It would be a bummer to pay $85 (which I agree is reasonable as long as it lasts) for your painted emblem only to have the paint/clearcoat start to flake away within a year.

Honestly looks really nice. I would probably get this if I were more into the CF look. It's just not my style, but you've definitely made a great looking, presumably high quality product.

I am guessing shipping to Hong Kong should also not be a problem? Want to order the glossy black script in time for when I pick my new car up and have it ceramic coated.

Do you folks with ceramic silver think the chrome script stinger badge looks okay? The black looks really nice, but thinking the chrome is good enough and will last much longer. Don’t want to have to worry about the thing again.

I don’t mind chrome. But give me badges that are of the same style/texture/color.

They look like they came from pep boys sale rack.

Gloss black makes them all equal and blacking out still looks bad arse in my opinion.

Had to space between the 4 & the SS having them together changed it to Silky Silver...lol
