Glossy Black Stinger Lettering

@nhcowboy28 How is the emblem paint holding up? Have you gone through a car wash? Power washer? Any problems at all?

I assume you're in New Hampshire, has the salt affected the finish?

Inquiring minds need to know!!
So far so good. I go through weekly (when not raining) touchless car washes (high pressure spray even on the back). No hint of issues.

No sir. NH are my initials. I be in the ATL.

I did mine in matte black (painted myself) about 5 months ago. Its still flawless in a crazy chicago winter.

Ohhh. I'm in Massachusetts and figured if the paint could survive a "NH" winter then it should survive anything, Atlanta is a different animal. Either way, I like your painting idea so I'll try it, what do I have to lose?!?!?

I have a ceramic silver GT2 and came across this thread because I pondered the chrome vs. black myself. I initially put a chrome Stinger nameplate on but after seeing a few photos and this thread, I ordered a gloss black GT and Stinger badge from ImportShark. Once I get them,m and put them on I can post pictures if anyone is still interested or having second thoughts.

Looking forward to the pics. Will you be doing the rebadge yourself?

You will like the gloss black Stinger badge. Got mine from ImportShark 6 months ago. No problems at all.View attachment 21115

Yes, I’ve akready rebadged the rest of the car with the E badges (new wheel caps, steering wheel (hardest one), front and rear). I put the Stinger emblem on the back in chrome but removed it and the GT badge when I had the car ceramic coated when I decided to switch to black.

Hopefully there's no problem with adhesion of the new emblems due to the ceramic coating...

Hopefully not. If there is I may have to go back and have them remove a small portion of the coating so I can apply them.

How difficult was the original removal of the front and back? What method did you use for removal? I was thinking about doing it myself using tape, a little bit of heat from a hair dryer, and fishing line, but then I considered paying someone to do it. Still on the fence.

Actually it was very easy. I tried using floss based on some of the things I read but it didn’t work well. I ultimately went with fishing line (50 lb test woven) and it was ridiculously easy. No heat gun or anything. Just use the line to saw back and forth behind the emblem and circle around them because there are pins. Then I just used my fingers to roll off the residue and that’s it. The steering wheel was harder because I didn’t just stick the new badge over the existing, I actually pulled the existing one out of the wheel and then applied the new one.

Edit: for the record, I’ve never done anything like that before and I’m marginally handy at best. You can do it!

Yeah, it wasn't too difficult at all. I would recommend just doing it yourself. I didn't use fishing line, only dental floss. However, if you go this route, I highly recommend avoiding the the waxed dental floss. I made that mistake and the wax made it a bit messy. Had to go to the store to buy the unwaxed kind. Since dental floss isn't the strongest, pull out about 3 continuous feet of it, fold it over end to end a few times, and use that to do the sawing motion underneath the emblem. That way, you'll have 4-6 lines of dental floss sawing through it, instead of just one. I found this to be just as strong as fishing line. Heating it up slightly with a hair dryer makes it easier to saw through it too.

Well, the letters took a while to get but I really like them. I like the black lettering better than the chrome ones I had. Goes well with the car in my opinion.

I'm going to try and get a hold of these for the forum store. Did yours ship from South Korea? Trying to understand why it took so long to receive. I'd ship same day from Florida...

Yeah, it would be really nice if there were other options besides chrome lettering in the forum store. I got mine a few months back from Importshark. I checked out their website just now and it looks like they don't have any products for Stingers anymore. I ended up getting a matte black one with clearcoat and the lead time was like 4 weeks. Not sure why it would take so long but it definitely took all 4 weeks for them to ship it to me. However, I like it a lot more than chrome.

Nevermind, I didn't see it earlier but Importshark does still sell Stinger stuff on their site.

I think the black looks awesome on light colored cars I wanted black for my red stinger but went with chrome since I wanted the E badge on the front. I felt the chrome matched better with the front E badge to look more uniform(but maybe that's just me lol)
