My week old car is in the same situation, my girl just rolled her eyes tooThread ressurection, totally my fault my dumbass went too crazy w heat gun... ceramic silver bubbled a bit n chipped from raised numbers on credit card I was using. Worst part is covered by emblem but pretty bad on front end
I'll attempt to fix w those paint pens.. wife just rolled her eyes lol
Wat a fail on a week old car
Live n learn
Wats the best way people remove remaining adhesive? Goo gone then wipe and scrap off w plastic card? Paper towels?
Yes. That is disturbing, because that is a very late build date showing paint failure. "We" have a consensus going that nearly all of the paint failures date from November and December of last year, into early January of this year. If paint failures are showing up that recently, that means that all of the MY18s can be compromised; i.e. Kia did not fix their paint adhesion issues throughout the MY18 run.Is my build date 5/18?
which adhesive remover did you use?Smh ughhhh I’m another victim of this paint crap
For years of debadging my kdm cars I always used goo gone, they ran out of that, and the sales rep from auto zone, said goof off was better, comes with more and it’s a spray. Never again . Then at the same time, from reading other threads. Stinger paint suckswhich adhesive remover did you use?
Mine did the same thing, both the front and back KIA badges are mounted on plastic. This may be the cause however i have heard a lot of complaints about the KIA Stinger paint. I doubt Kia will fix it, im in California and the estimate to fix the paint was $1,200Hopefully the body shop does a good job and I am not noticing a slightly off color white everytime I look at my car. Here's the pics.View attachment 4884 View attachment 4885 View attachment 4886 View attachment 4883
I'm sorry that you see only the negative. Perfectly understandable! There are threads where it has been reported more than once that professional painters have done a thumbs up for the Stinger's paint quality; above the norm, in fact. The issue is adhesion, not the quality of the paint per se. This is important for the long run. Adhesion can be addressed under Kia's paint warranty. There is no way that Kia will refuse your case with pictures clearly showing flaking in areas that can not possibly receive damage. The hood emblem? Not so much. You might have to pay for that one.For years of debadging my kdm cars I always used goo gone, they ran out of that, and the sales rep from auto zone, said goof off was better, comes with more and it’s a spray. I think goof off is too strong isn't it? On your Stinger?I used turtle wax auto adhesive remover and the paint failed on that as well
Lol, yes. I bet it is.Well I brought it back to my dealer and they’re taking care of it as we speak, free of charge and it’s in the paint warranty. As of now they said it would take 3-4 days, and if the weekend hits, prolly have it done by next Monday . They lent me an mkz 2.0t in the mean time. This crap is so slow lol
Yes I am. So I can’t complain... now I’m just looking for a place to do my rebadging for me lol. Ughh i bet it’s not going to be cheap. But I already have the badges with me ready for use, but I’d rather someone else do it this time.Lol, yes. I bet it is.
So all three areas are getting painted without hassle? If so, you are being treated well.
I had a shop do the rear badge, cost $75. Just make sure they know how the "Stinger" font actually lines up with the holes.Yes I am. You think do would do that for free? I gotta ask. I just thought they wouldn’t want me to alter the car since I’m still new into my lease.I will say it again, get the dealer to do the badges. That way if they stuff up they fix it at their cost.
In Australia they would. You think do would do that for free? I gotta ask. I just thought they wouldn’t want me to alter the car since I’m still new into my lease.
