White stinger emblem change paint chips. Bad quality paint job?

Wow! Has it affected any Snow White pearl ? My car is fine but I did get ceramic coating done.
The defect exists on every vehicle regardless of colour. It may just take longer on some vehicles to appear. The ceramic coating will help but remember that the fault exists under the paint so I would think it could still flake off.

Awesome just what I need after spending $65000 on a car. Have Kia admitted fault because if it happens to me I’m getting my money back and buying a Mustang.

Wow interesting. Especially that they withdrew sales of certain colors down under. I wonder if they will do that in USA...

I do not recommend turtle wax adhesive remover. It did a number in my yellow paint. It worked fine on my red one though.
Adhesive remover should have not done this at all. Incredible.

Yeh I wonder is there anyone who has tools to measure paint thickness? Or someone who does autobody who can comment... it seems like a primer or base issue possibly?? I don't even know difference between primer and base.. lol I thought primer was base. But anyway

I had this same issue happen on a BMW 550iGT. BMW told me to pound sand.

The field tech who evaluated my car used a paint thickness gauge. So hopefully we'll get results from that soon. It's been a while though so I think Kia is just deciding how to handle this issue now.

So far, my white paint after 2000 KM mostly on highways seems okay.

No issues on mine either and I do serious inspections every wash ( by hand personally , no friggin car washes !! )

There is DEFINITELY an issue with the paint on ALL Stingers, regardless of colour, build date, spec
Hi Brendan,
Can you answer next:
1. You wrote "regardless of build date". Are you sure about that? I.e. you know they didn't change anything in current paint process of vehicles they manufacturing? Your Stinger is October?
2. Do you know how they resprayed your car? Did they done that in a proper way now?

No issues with paint so far, but I've got pretty low mileage, about the same as @voon. Will definitely be following this to see where it leads ...

Tell me about it. This was what happened to my yellow using turtle wax “car safe” adhesive remover. I used the same process on the red Stinger two weeks earlier, no problem. As you can see the remover ran down the hatch and went at the edges of the paint which had an immediate negative impact on the yellow...(once again I had no issue with red). This was a few months ago before the issues came to light and I am sure Kia wouldn’t have covered a repaint for that problem without a fight. For some other reason both cars had cracks beneath the licence plates in the same place (photo2). Kia replaced those plastic panels on both under warranty. The new parts were shipped unpainted and were then painted. In the end it worked out. I never intended to swap out the front logos and I am gsticking to that plan.
All I have on the red car back end is the Gt logo. I asked the Kia body shop to fill the logo holes on the new parts since they were replacing the back panels anyway. Wife wanted the yellow to have the Stinger back end so I put the center Stinger logo back on. All is well, we are waiting on the letter from Kia on the yellow redo options. As I think back to when I purchased my last NEW car ... an early base year model Mazda RX 8 ... they had a “horsepower marketing” nightmare. These Stinger issues are nothing compared to that experience. I had the Mazda service guy on speed dial for 5 years. As a side note the RX 8 was as much fun to drive as the stinger... if/ when it started. I know ... I know ... rule #1 never buy a new car in the first year of production. I guess, technically, I heeded that advice.

Wow. Incredible. I almost wonder if Johnsons baby soap and a cloth diaper would have the same outcome. That paint is barely holding on!

Another "failing paint" thread! How many of these lurk in the forum "archives"? Those cracked panels are beyond the pale, @Dmchristie1, but I am glad that is all behind you now!

I don’t know how weak the paint is . But I usually use goo gone to take out the emblems residue. But I asked for a similar product and they said that this spray is better, I think the spray was too strong for it

No way was the spray too strong for properly adhering paint. What is your build date? Everyone reading any of these paint issue threads wants to know.

Goof off is way too abrasive, especially for the Stinger. I've seen it ruin the the brembo red on an CTS-V.
Goo gone automotive would have been better in this situation.

Where would I find the build date for the paint?
