Yikes... the East sure like their salt... apparently we’re experimenting with calcium chloride in Edmonton... not sure how much different it is from yours but I think we’ve had way more fender benders in the city this year!

It's actually a mix of a bunch of things, but I can't remember what they are (salt is in there though).
Calcium chloride is far superior at lower temps. Regular rock salt loses effectiveness under 20F. Calcium chloride works to -25F. Calcium chloride is way more expensive so they be applying less.

If I recall correctly there’s also salt in the new mixture plus an “anti-corrosion agent” whatever that means.
Excellent tire choice!18" rims with Michelin X-Ice Xi3s, through the dealer. They're black, but the car is nice and dirty thanks to all the road salt in this photo.

Those are the rims I ordered for the winter setup for my Thunder Grey GT Ltd with Micheline X-Ice Xi3 winter tires. I can't wait to have some fun in the snow!

I bought this one, and traded in my car, and then will do a no cash exchange in a month on the thunder grey GT limited (Gt2+ in US) arrives from factory.

My GT2 came with the staggered 19s, so I decided to go with a set of dedicated 18s for winter. The tires are Cooper WSC 225/50r18 and the rims are Touren TR65 in 18x8. They are a really affordable rim and all that was available to me in anchorage that actually fit around the Brembos. I ordered Touren TR73 rims, which I think would have looked a lot better, waited two weeks for them to come in, only to find they didn't fit around the calipers due to the difference in the way they are constructed. The explanation I got from my tire guy is that the tr65 is a "standard mount" meaning the wheel was constructed face up, but the tr73 was a "reverse mount" and was constructed with the face down. Both were 35 offset. Anyway, I couldn't stand to not drive for another couple weeks so I took what was available. I will probably use them the rest of the winter then sell them on Craigslist before next winter hits. Bottom line, I'm not a big fan of the way they look, or the mafia staff car look. The good news is the car handles like a dream on icy roads now thanks to the tires!!
