What's your favorite Mando setting! Post it!

Ended up ripping 3-4 chunks off driver's front tire, a couple more off others.
 How worn are your tires? I tore a chunk out of the outer edge of my driver's front tire too. But I had c. 22K miles on them at the time.

One front has 3 or 4 "squares", the ~1.5-2" chunks at the outer edge ripped off. I think the others have one each, maybe 2. I do plan to replace them sooner, rather than later, but they're holding air and the rest of the tire is fine, so it's not like the belts are ripping. Another guy was running run-flats in his 335i, and by the end, his belts were falling apart (wires sticking off into the air) so he had to get tires after day 1 before day 2.

So, I am assuming that the wear on these tires is solely because of tracking; and miles on the tires is irrelevant.

No suspension mods yet other than ECS10 - but Ark springs + Whiteline full kit (sways + links) on (back)order. ETA is sometime next month.
What made you go for whiteline sway bars instead of the slightly thicker ark sways or slightly thinner eibach sways?

They had a 20-25% off sale, and so I got the sways + end links all designed to work together for a good price.

Have you had any problems with the end link nut getting loose? I had Whiteline endlinks before and they never stayed tight and kept getting loose.

Sorry for going so off topic on this thread haha

No - they haven't been installed yet - hopefully next week. Hmm. that's good to know. Will have to keep an eye on it. I believe others on here have paired the whiteline endlinks with other sways, and not had any issues.

At least one person had issues with the Eibach bar getting loose / moving and needing a new bushing after a couple of months, which steered me away from them a bit. Ark is a bit of an unknown to me - Whiteline has a (Edit: decent) reputation from my Subaru days..

Eibach has been doing springs and bars for decades now, can that have a random one off with problems, possibly. However a lose bar, bad bushing sounds more like an issue with the install, improper torque on the bushing brackets or not using the grease.

Honestly 90% of owners will not know the difference as all of these bars have very similar bar/spring rates. The two suspension mods people will get the most noticeable increase in body control and stiffness is

1. Lower springs (Eibach, whiteline, tein)
2. Mando with Wayne's settings 1 or 2

so the Mando does retain the settings...

I have sway bars and the Mando and no contest, the sway bars make a bigger difference to me. The Mando is more subtle unless you go radical and make it more stiff. The sway bars were very noticeable.

several users report yes.
several users report no.

Mine does not retain setting after a drive cycle. I have tried constant and switched power. Both operated the same for me.

Hmm. I will try to mess with it some more to double-check.

Sways were a nice change to "button down" the ride - feels tighter and more controlled now - not as bouncy. More like my wife's '16 GTI (base). However, the Mando CAN also make a big difference, although not always positive. 75/75 (ride/handling) was a bit too bouncy for my liking, although 75/50 was a bit better. Wish I had more time to try different things.

Planning to set it QUITE stiff for the HPDE I'm going to on Sunday..

With the current crisis, if everywhere closes, the roads will be open for testing.:)

Well, the HPDE got cancelled. Not too surprised..

Is there a post somewhere on the difference between ride and handling? Thought we proved out somewhere that there’s only a single signal, no damping vs rebound, etc. Are there downstream adjustments made by role and pitch sensors or something?

Ride controls compression damping and handling changes rebound damping. Unsure how they are physically implemented compared to a traditional two-way adjustable damper, but I have verified those are what the two settings change based on a fair bit of reading into suspension tuning dynamics and my own experimentation lining up with that assessment.

Waynerm002, when you have a chance, could you post the numerical values and speeds for that calibration?

I don't think it is that simple. I believe Ride controls both and makes adjustment under certain circumstances as measured by sensors, same for handling. For example the firmer you set handling the firmer it gets when cornering, accelerations and such are sensed. Hence the term adaptive suspension. There is only one voltage being changed so you cannot adjust one without the other being affected.

Have you had any problems with the end link nut getting loose? I had Whiteline endlinks before and they never stayed tight and kept getting loose.

I made a post somewhere about this, installing whiteline endlinks really can't be done in your home garage. I finally had my shop do it up on their alignment lift, one guy in the car, one guy under the car, the whiteline endlinks require some positioning to get them perfectly centered so that they don't bind when turning lock to lock. Gotta turn one way to lock, check to see if they bind, make an adjustment, turn to the other lock, check to see if they bind, make an adjustment, back and forth until you're able to turn lock to lock without the endlink impeding the full range of motion. As soon as it binds, it knocks that nut loose. Haven't had any issues since this was done.
