• PLEASE! It is VERY important that this area is not used for the discussion of technical issues with your Stinger. This section is for posting about regional-specific things like Stinger clubs, events, local vendor or dealer recommendations, KiaStinger.com member sightings, etcetera... In other words, I do NOT want people to need to scour through several different sections to find answers about their heads up display. That's why there's a section dedicated specifically to discussions like that. THANK YOU!

What did you do to your Stinger in Australia today?

So you're not in SEQ as your profile says? Assuming that stands for South East Queensland.

Just a question how's the drone around 1700-2000 revs? Ive heard in the past with Borla its unliveable, maybe yours is the newer model. Where in Sydney are you?
Yes, I live there - I am down here for work until Christmas so thought I would offer since many I find on here are from NSW.

To be honest, I don't have any (even none I would say) unless heading up a decent hill, which I simply shift down a gear if someone else is in the car (to myself now, I feel like this is 10x more livable than my previous exhaust, so maybe my opinion is now tainted as anything could be better). In no way would I ever say the noise is unlivable, feel like people might have misunderstood drone to the noise in the cabin from the exhaust; but all noise perception is different to others. The car is dead silent in cabin at below 1400 with constant throttle simply cruising, it is pretty fascinating really (can go from absolutely roaring in sport to nothing in eco). Overall, very happy Borla customer and would recommend it till the cows came home.

And I might tag along with a Bi-modal :D

From interior to exterior to high performance - everything you need for your Stinger awaits you...
Might as well come along for the compare! I have a bimodal with SSR secondary deletes and did the x pipe resonator deletes as well

Either the Brew house Marden park this Wednesday at 6.30pm for dinner or Hawthorne ave Marsden park @ 8pm for the action. The strip is right near the pub.

Hey Oz, can you do me a favour please. If you meet up with @Nockalous can you take a short vid of the Borla sound and send it my way :)

Sure gladly also I'd like to hear if it has any drone issues. If not its a big win.

To check if it's got in cabin drone, you might have to ask for a ride and sit in the back seat. Apparently, so Iv'e heard it may drone a bit if you are sitting in the back but it is non existent if in eco mode.

Normally the drone comes in around 1700 revs through to 2000 revs on my Ark which unfortunately alpears to be around the 100kmh mark on the highway. So if he does have drone i doubt if we'll hear it. Mine is really quiet outside the "Drone zone".

If there is a highway near the destination, happy to quickly hop on for a bit.

Are you thinking about changing the bimodal Flame.
I'm still uncertain. I do like the bimodal but sometimes wish the Stinger sounded a bit more beefy. But I don't want an exhaust that will wake up our neighbourhood especially as I do shift work. I certainly don't want to change something and later regret it, maybe it's better the devil you know ?:cautious:

Why not do what I did and put the Bimodal on bypass at times, secondary downpipe straight through and consider a x pipe resonator delete? It's loud enough (at times), not too droney and if I want silence I flick the Bimodal back on?

Thank you for the suggestion, I will keep it in mind.
If you do deletes does that make it unroadworthy in the eyes of the police ? the police are out and about over here.

All in all the bimodial is a sensible choice especially if youre not going down the horse power road. Its my believe you will get drone with all other systems.

Flame you have heard drone when you've popped the fuse in yours, potentially thats what you're going to hear with other exhausts. My Ark at Hwy cruising on long trips is still unacceptable. Strangely it doesn't bother my wife .

Actually my issue as found by an exhaust specialist is not drone per say but reverberation , its a vibration thing which eventually weakened the welds and a pin hole leak developed.

Went to two different exhaust places and they gave me two conflicting pieces of advise.

I think i may have done a U turn on how i feel about the bimodial , being engineered here for the Stinger it maybe as good as it gets in ticking most boxes.

Unfortunately you probably want the sound of a V8 which no matter how good the exhaust is, is probably hard to replicate with a V6. (The exception to this rule is the Giulia QV which sounds absolutely awesome. That however is a Ferrari V8 with 2 cylinders lopped off. ) I think the bimodal is well suited to the Stinger but each to their own.

Bang on, that's what hubby advises, he says Kia made that exhaust to fit the Stinger and any other may have a potential problem ( drone ), it's covered by the warranty and perhaps I should not look else where. I mean a V6 is never going to sound like a V8 as mentioned by @Nasscar .
I stopped pulling the plug due to the reverberations as I don't want any screws, bolts etc to work loose and end up with a rattle problem.
