Track & 1/4 Mile Anyone ? - Ontario

I have a 2015 BMW 550i, Bmw 335 msport, Charger (not sure, but is older RT), 2016 Mustang GT that may come.

Have the set out the requirements for helmets? (ie can you use a motorcycle, gokart or dirt bike helmet?)

the track looks like it's $70 from 5pm-9pm, twice per week (Wed. and Fri.)
$140 for the 10am - 5pm longer option. Too long. I ain't racing around for that long.. Not sure how that works yet or how many laps, etc.

If anyone finds out or already knows more about how it works.. these are for paying and reserving a slot on line.. not a custom thing just for us

I request that and waiting for reply.. by email. I'll try a call in to them.

I believe the helmet has to get DOT at minimum.
As for a helmet not being “essential” and not wanting to spend money on one. Personally I consider head and brain safety as essential as it gets, especially if this is your first track day and you plan to do more in the future.

Both are very reasonable...the $140, all day isn't bad at all, and if we have a large group should be considered, it would be a nice relaxed day with nobody panicking or rushing to get the laps in, (remember that it will be only be one car on track at a time) and toss in a nice BBQ lunch. and it a nice day out

I think everyone is on the track at the same time. they replied that before we start, they'll tell us where passing is allowed and where not, to keep the risk if colliding at a minimum.
I kinda don't like that with my own car.
If we rent the space for our group, I assume we can do what we want and have one driver at a time.

re: helmet, yah, if doing more often or I was buying a moterbike, I'd get a very good one, but not sure if I'll be doing this very often.. Maybe again once or twice. Mostly 1/4 mile.. but who knows, I get hooked and I camp outside the place.. haha

Here's the links for the road track and drag strip.

$4300 from 10am-5pm Mon.-Thurs. and goes up from there for Fridays and weekends... that's costly unless we can get like 43 people to be $100 each.. plus / minus from there. we can likely get a good group and even if a bit more than $100 each, is not bad for that many hours.

$1,200-$1500 for the drag strip with 2 lanes. 1 lane avail. too, for less. for 10 people and $50 more per car from that..
- Track requires Safety Service and an Ambulance on site, which is another $550... unless no ones car can do 1/4 mile under 14. secs..so do we save money and go slow on purpose or PAY IT....AND... RIIIP IT ? !! HAHAA.

Waiting on more info. I've asked another bunch of questions for more specifics. Likely mid to later June may be better, for time to organize a good group ?

Very reasonable for the road course!!! -I think we can get 25+ easy (I'm pretty confident I can get 3 other people to join) any more and it just gets cheaper!
This is how I look at the math -
$4300 / 25people = $175/each for 7 hours = $25/hour
$4300 / 35 people = $122/7 hours ~ $18/hour

I am in for the road course! Would love it on rainy day!

Depending on the day, I am also down for the road course +1

I've got a beanie and a full face helmet from my motorcycling days (two months ago)

I think everyone is on the track at the same time...
I kinda don't like that with my own car.

I don't like that either. With a group that big, you don't know who the moron will be.

took 8 days to get their reply, but here it is, re: many questions I had to understand the options better.
It's a lot to try and organize this for large group. For now, I really just want to head down on a Fri. evening and do some 1/4 mile runs.
Who's up for that. We'll need helmets.

so,
- Are helmets required for thetrack ? They are manditory on the roadcourse if it is a convertible and if they have their 1 limit passenger they also require a helmet, if person want to wear a helmet in a hard top and again have the 1 limit passenger they also must have a helmet. On the Dragstrip it is manditory for a convertible and also if the car goes 13.99 ET or quicker in the 1/4 mile.
- but drag strip for any drivers who's car is likely going to do under 14 sec. 1/4 mile ? or if one persons car can do it under 14 secs., everyone must wear a helmet ? or only those faster car drivers ? Yes again anything 13.99 ET or quicker in the 1/4 mile

- any dot approved helmet, or does it have to at least cover the ears ? or cover the ears and full cover helmets ? like this one ?
https://www.gpbikes.com/bell-custom-500-open-face-helmet It needs to be full helment does not need the shield but a Snell or DOT newer.
- for the road course track, are half days permitted, or only 10am-5pm on weekdays ? If so, price ? No no half days available for the days.

- road course, how many cars on the track at the same time ? We will need to know the amount of vehicles you are expecting before the rental to know how you will handle your rental. If it is our Open Car Lapping days we only allow 45 vehicle between pre-registered and at the gate.
- is it done by a time and then next batch of cars ? That will depend on the amount of participants for your rental. At our Open Car Lapping days persons do about 4-5 laps and then come into the pits and let their breaks cool so not alot on the track if we notice too many persons on the track then we will do groups as per experience.

- is it by so many laps per driver, and then a switch ? or break ? Usally our open Car Lapping days. We do it for the time and it is. And it is 1 vehicle 1 driver for the cost of the day....no switching drivers. 2nd and 3rd or more drivers driving the same vehicle as the first driver is 60% of full cost for 2nd and 50% of cost of 3 or more drivers. As said before a few laps and off due to cool breaks and driver fatigue.
- and there's staff there to work with us, guide us, etc.. Open Car Lapping days you will receive a map at registration if new and then you will attend a drivers meeting with Marshall. Track rental if you want staff the cost will be extra.

- does each driver get timed on the track or our own responsibility to time our selves ? Roadcourse no timing system so you will need to time yourselves.

- drag strip, we'll get time slips for every run ? Yes
- drag strip shows price of $1,500 for 1/4 two lanes but then on the right in larger size, it says $1,200 + 50/ over ten cars.
Please clarify what these differences are ?
You are confusing the pricing: It is $ 1,200.00 basic Dragstrip rental up to 10 vehicle limit. After the limit it extras over 10 are $ 50.00 each.(need to know correct number at time of agreement. Then if you have just 1 vehicle at the rental that does 13.99 or quicker you will need an ambulance for $ 400.00, a safety person for $ 150.00. Traction compound is 1 lane 1/8 mile- $ 400.00, 2 lanes 1/8 mile-$ 750.00-1 lane 1/4 mile $ 800.00, 2 lanes 1/4 mile $ 1,500.00.
- is there a snack bar for buying lunch ? Can we order in pizzas to the track or ? Yes there is a foodbooth. And no you cannot bring in outside food for a rental or Open Car Lapping day.

- what time does the track close on weekdays/weekends ? You will need to look at the schedule but at this time roadcourse Daytime is typically 10-5 and evenings 5-9.
- Same question for the Friday night 1/4 mile drag nights ? 7pm to 11pm

- Do you have opening now for Mid late June ? For which track and date if you have 1 in mind.

For now, I really just want to head down on a Fri. evening and do some 1/4 mile runs.
Who's up for that. We'll need helmets.

I am up for this, and I have a full-faced helmet. My only problem is that on Fridays I usually work until 8:30pm minimum, in Brampton. I can reliably be there by 10pm on any given Friday. What time does this shut down on a Friday night?

For me, making the odd 6pm show-up at the dragstrip is really hard but not impossible, as long as I schedule a Friday a couple of weeks into the future.

Weekends are a different story, as most weekends I have off. Does anyone know how busy it gets on a Saturday or Sunday morning at the dragstrip?

Although I am completely stock at the moment (except for Denso 5346 IKH24 plugs gapped @ 0.024"), I may have a JB4 installed by the time I get my shit together. It would be interesting to see the results of different maps.

I'm all for a road course run, and I can probably get 3-4 more non-stinger people as well (WRX, GT-R, or TTRS, and a BMW M, or Speed3)

Will be at TMP today at 4:30pm. If you are there come say hi!

Will do a few in AWD and then pull the AWD fuse and see if we really need an LSD!

I was considering going down today, but have something come up for bit after 3pm, and when finished, not sure if can make it before 6pm and don't want to go very late.
Will you be going down on another friday soon ?
Organize a larger thing is bit more difficult and though I started the topic, seems easier to just say hey, lets meet up on a Friday afternoon/evening.

You going next Friday or the one after that ?

Yeah I think i’ll be going regularly. If anyone is thinking of going should post here and once we get a critical mass we should book the track.

Aaaaaaaaand..... I am hooked!

we have approx. 10 or so (with non-stingers), but personally, I don't like the trace part, unless we collectively agree that we'll run each driver 30 seconds apart, to have free range of the track and not have accidents with others, etc.. unless 2-3 friends agree to run next to each other, but only as by choice and everyone agrees the track time to be shared that way ? in an organized way.
but for 1/4 runs, it seems its not cheaper to rent the track and there's time to get more than enough runs thru.

Let us know how many people there and how many runs you get thru ?
You have mods ?
Have you been there before ? I assume lots of seating for guests to hang out and record runs ?
