Tow hitch

The maximum tongue weight is 200 lbs.

The only hitch available is the Draw-Tite which is Class 1. Class 1 bike carriers typically only allow you to carry 2 bikes so as not to exceed the maximum tongue weight. (Remember that the hitch itself has some weight - typically 30-50 lbs)

For that reason, I bought the Thule Helium Aero 3 which is a Class 1 hitch that only weighs 19 lbs and can accommodate 3 bikes.

It just depends on the weight of the bike. I think the average weight of a dirt bike is about 200 lbs. A carrier that can hold that kind of weight probably weighs at least 50 lbs. So maybe if you had a lightweight bike (less than 150 lbs) it can be done.

Probably not, a YZ250 is 219lbs and that doesn't even count the weight of the carrier, which will be substantial (both are going to be the tongue weight). A 50cc? Probably.

This is becoming a problem with even mountain bikes, as people are transitioning over to electric bikes now, which weigh substantially more. Often more than the racks intended.

I think for a dirt bike, you would likely need a small trailer.
