Agree. I also have a Staggered setup and with 6500 miles on them, they still have a lot of life left in them.
I want the "Y" because as soon as you get a nail and have to put in a patch, the rating drops down one letter. The "W" puts them out of consideration for me (I admit, it's an irrational conceit sort of thing: I want tires that could go on a Koenigsegg Agera). And my tire guys said that you get what you pay for, i.e. in their opinion the Firestone does not have the same over all durability as the Michelin.
Could you expound on this a bit? I've never heard of this before.I want the "Y" because as soon as you get a nail and have to put in a patch, the rating drops down one letter.
Not necessarily true. Some maintain the rating depending on the size/location(s) of the repair, some reduce the rating, and some void the speed rating altogether. Michelin maintains the speed rating depending on number and location or the repairs. Bridgestone completely voids the speed rating regardless of the number and location of repairs. The manufacturers state many different things regarding this. No rule of thumb per se.I want the "Y" because as soon as you get a nail and have to put in a patch, the rating drops down one letter.

If not delivered tomorrow, the installer will price match and install the Conti Extreme Contact DWS06 in their place.
thanks for all the input here....
That really is odd. It really makes me wonder why they put so little value on the tire here. Maybe the Firestone branding has something to do with it?

This tire has been in the US since around May 2016 and about a year before that in Japan. I hope that a price increase is not imminent! This tire and price point has been great for what I do. I think the Firestone name will keep the price low, but that is just speculation on my part. Comparable Bridgestones are more expensive and this fills a void at Firestone. Ironically, I had my alignment and balance today and was surprised that the location manager was not aware that it was a "re-branded" Potenza Adrenalin RE-003.I know I'm getting in on this late however, manufacturers will start with a low price to get the items sold and in the hands of the consumer. Once folks see how good they are, they write reviews and tell others about them, which drives demand for the product, then they will increase the price.
Were you on OE Michelin Pilot Sport 4? Or A/S?A few weeks ago I replaced my OEM rear tires after they lasted me 21k miles. I decided to go with the Michelin PS4S. I don’t regret it. Great tire, plenty of stick and it holds pressure really well. Haven’t had to touch it since the tire shop installed them
I had the stock pilot sport 4 on.Were you on OE Michelin Pilot Sport 4? Or A/S?
21K miles on Michelin Pilot Sport. Excellent! I have almost 22K miles on my car and c. 5K were on Nitto Motivo A/S. I am not going to get another 4K out of my rear Michelins. In fact, they'll be off in the next couple of weeks, because I need good tires for a long road trip late in August.I had the stock pilot sport 4 on.

Michelin PS4S, or the same PS4 that came on it. Depends on availability. I like the consistency of keeping all four tires the exact same, and the PS4S has a differing tread pattern, iirc. Nothing that would cause issues, handling or wear, etc. But it just kind of annoys me to have different sidewall designations, knowing that they are not a perfectly matched set of four. What are you planning to purchase for the rears?
