Well I searched for a thread, didn't see one , so here it is! Whats, your favorite oil? And why?
These threads can be downright stressful, so take it easy one post at a time and above all respect your member......uh that doesn't sound right.....respect your fellow contributor , there that's better.
I use M-1 with an additive called motorkote......s'posed to be a remedy in a bottle, All I know is truck shops trust it in fleets of 100,000 dollar trucks, That's each boys. Been using it exclusively for well over 10 years......all synthetic for me nothing else matters....Livng in the northeast we get 8 seasons , best to be prepaired for them all! Oh this will be a poll thread

I've been using Royal Purple for almost 17 years, now. It's been my go-to motor oil and it has never proven a poor choice to me so far.

I've already got Royal Purple in mine, though since it was the first oil change, it's still actually mixed with the factory oil. It usually takes 3-4 oil changes to truly flush out the factory oil unless you spend the money/time to siphon and/or remove the whole pan. Of course, that's not worth it to me knowing that it'll just be a matter of time before the factory oil gets pushed out.

My dealer uses Total so it is now my fav oil for buy 2.0 stinger. He uses 5w 30.

I've used whatever name brand oil is available for a good price at the time I change, that meets the type, viscosity and classification(s) recommended by the manufacturer - and that applies to every car and motorcycle I've owned, which add up to quite a few. And just like those who've sworn allegiance at the altar of any particular oil brand, I've never had an oil related issue or engine/component failure ...

Accordingly, the Stinger will get it's oil changed at the KIA recommended intervals, not before, with a name brand 5W-30 full synthetic that is API SM/ILSAC GF-4 or above/SW-30 or above.

wow, no amsoil yet? interesting.

88 views and only 10 people bothered with the poll ?! C'mon Man! What the other 78 have vegetable oil?!

I just finished changing mine. I used this new crap from Valvoline called "Full Synthetic for Modern Engines". It's Desos 1 Gen 2 approved and claims to be made SPECIFICALLY for turbo GDI engines.

Is it all marketing hype? Probably. But I figured, hey might as well try it...nothing else on the market says it's made specifically for our types of engines.

One bad thing about it is Valvoline just released it a few months ago so it's pretty hard to find any real information about it on the internet (other than on their own website).

Another bad thing, I thought it was on sale for $24 .When I checked out my total was $68. It's expensive! $34 per 5 quarts at Walmart, $44 per 5 quarts at AutoZone and O'Reilly.

wow, that is expensive, but hopefully ya get what ya pay for.....turbos' rely on one thing and one thing only.....oil getting to the bearing that sits between the ''cool'' side and the exhaust side.........the better the flow the longer the bearing life.......a thicker oil may compensate this and down the road hurt you in the wallet.

On the bright side I've got 3 quarts left over so next oil change I'll only need a single $34 five quart container. Hopefully by then the price comes down.

I'm fully stocked with full synthetic , a couple cases (6) quarts of 5w/30.........I'll use it up....first change will be in october, under the 6,000 mile in the owners manual, it'll be every spring after that.

Okay, "Other": which means I don't worry about it. What the dealer puts in is okay with me. I don't even know what brand they are putting in, but assume it's the same as what came with the car. I certainly do not expect them to cheap out, not these guys.

I selected "other" because for the most part, I don't care about any 1 kind more than another. Oil is 1 place I will follow the manufacturers guidance because if the motor pops for some god awful reason, the oil WILL get tested and could be used for a claim denial.

I used Pennzoil Ultra Plat SRT in all my big hemis cause that's what the manual said to use.

Just did a M1 regular 5w30 (as stated on the oil cap), not the high mile or extended performance or anything fancy, for the Kia's 1st change with an OEM filter.

Not partial to anything other than the chemical comp being compliant/exceeding guidelines and a "top tier" brand that's easy on the wallet. 7+ quarts of that Pennzoil would be like 90 in oil alone lol. The M1 at walmart was half.

the dealers are obligated to use a synthetic blend of dino juice and synthetic.....my guess would be valvoline.

These are two top of the line oils I would use

Pennzoil Ultra Platinum
Mobil 1 Extended Performance

Just a brand name is like I drive a Kia (nothing wrong in that but that doesn't describe the car completely).

I'm kinda surprised at the feedback so far, dealership uses a synthetic blend and conventional oil, That crap is going buh - bye this monday.

Still on the factory fill right now on my 2.0T, but I will be using Castrol Edge 0w40. I chose this for its low NOACK, which has been reported at 8.9. My commute is around 10 miles and I usually crawl at 12-15 mph in the morning--the joys of Miami traffic. I routinely disable stop-start, and even if the low NOACK is legit and does help, I have a catch can ready to install. I will be changing this oil every 4k miles or so and using OEM filters.

Valvoline Modern Engine is made for Turbocharged GDI engines. I sold my 2015 Sonata 2.0t to get my Stinger. My Sonata was getting sluggish... until I switched to Valvoline Modern Engine - it actually made a world of difference. It made my Sonata run properly after about 500 miles. I'll be running this oil and only this oil in my Stinger. I've used Amsoil, Mobil-1, Pennzoil Pure Platinum over the years in various cars... I'll usually use Amsoil usually in my other cars. My wife's TDI Beetle requires some exotic oil -Liquimoly LongLife III synthetic. I'm an oil stickler. The Valvoline Modern Engine stuff seems to work - something in the formulation keeps the oil from sticking to the backs of the valves. Watch the video.

Check this out... and no, I don't work for Valvoline. :)

I don't think it's hype... My brother ragged on me for "believing" the hype - but It did make a noticeable difference on my 2.0t Sonata. I had it in there for 2 oil changes before trading it in on the Stinger - but I felt the improvements. How about you? So you changed it about a month ago... Mine is brand new so I'll keep the stock oil in there until the 6000 mile mark, then Kia has my first oil change for free... I may bring my own oil for them to use. VME for sure.
