Hi,

I've had my stinger(GT Limited/GT2 AWD) just over a month and now that I have a bit of feel for the car especially when compared to my previous car which was def. more stiff/planted, I would like some of the experts' opinions on subjective shortcomings. So this is what I observed: Body roll and floatiness. Not sure these two characteristics can be improved by either swaybar or ESC mod. To a degree, both can be improved by changing the drive mode from "Comfort" to "Sports" though, but not enough. I feel that what I want is that the suspension setting in "Sports" should be "Comfort". Thus, I'd like "Sports" mode to have even less lean on cornering and more planted in general(straight-line cruising as well as on corners). Now to the question: which method mentioned in the subject field would help the car achieve it?

Thank you.

I don’t have the ECS, but I can definitely tell you that in regards to body roll, the sway bar upgrade is a night and day difference.

What brand/size of the sway bar did you use? And just rear or both?

I went with the Eibach rear sway bar, on "soft" setting (for the street). So far, I have not invested time or money in the front sway bar; and truthfully, I don't think of it very much anymore, because to me the ride is fine. I liked the OE ride fine too, but wanted to improve "spirited" cornering handling. The rear sway bar did that enough for this tyro. :P I doubt that my level of "hooning" is going to require more stiffness than my car already has.

(There's a scene in the new movie, "Ford vs Ferrari" where Carroll Shelby - Matt Damon - yanks his Cobra around a corner, and it "floats" and kicks out in the rear, very noticeably, but he just counter steers, with the gas pedal down (you can tell), and the rear instantly gets back into line: I've experienced that exact thing in my Stinger, even with the Eibach rear sway bar; but with the sway bar upgrade, it takes more "violence" to produce the side step, and recovery is also more assured and instantaneous.)

Have a 2019 GT2 AWD with the Mando unit and the 2 programmed setting changes the way the car feel and handles. There are a further 4 custom slots you can tune to your liking and save. I felt the 2019 was better setup than the 2018 I had and it could just be that they tuned the suspension a little different in 2019. I didn’t feel the sway bar was required so I gave mine away.

Both system have benefits and some that have both days it is even better that way. I like mine without the sway so far, not sure if I will add one in the future. Depending on how you like the car to feel, you might prefer both. I think the Mando unit does more overall, for tuning the ride and handling.

I have both and both can be significantly improve by the mods you are considering. IMHO the sways are the best mod you can do on the car. They cut down on body roll big time. Make the rear more planted. The ECS module is not as big but is still significant. My car drive so much better with the sways and the ecs tune Wayne did. Definitely worth the money for both. Best $1000 dollars you can spend on this car imho

I can't speak to the Mando ECS tuner but I'm running a Eibach rear sway bar on the soft setting on my AWD GT and it's an amazing improvement. You will have zero regrets if you get one. The rear is much more planted, reduced bodyroll by huge margin and the car is just more fun to drive and it really improves your confidence.

I've decided I will be adding the Eibach front sway bar, overtime I've realised I can now feel more bodyroll up front when compared to the rear and I've read that it will also sharpen steering input.

If you like your present setup as far as understeer/oversteer balance goes you will probably want to up the rear to firm when you add the front in on soft. I started with the rear only on soft and added in the front and it wasn't as playful as it was with just the rear. So I changed the rear to firm to compensate for the thicker and stiffer front Eibach sway.

I love how sharp the steering is now with both bars installed. I have both on soft and it’s perfect for me. I’m saving the hard setting for any track days

When I installed the Eibach front in place of the stock one the car did not feel as neutral as it did with just the rear on soft. Adding from sway stiffness increases in the understeer direction. To get back to the feeling the car had with just the rear on I had to bump the rear to firm which made it understeer less again. The car is very neutral or maybe even a bit of over steer but I like that feel.

I've been following the discussion/debate on this for months, probably about a year. I got my rear Eibach sway bar on early last year. I've been getting a working understanding of "oversteer" and "understeer". It's this observation: that adding the front Eibach increases understeer; I don't want any of that. I don't want to increase stiffness in the rear to compensate for a stiffer front. I like the ride quality as it is. And I do not notice front body roll, at all. My driving probably isn't "spirited" enough to produce it. So, for now, no front bar upgrade for me.

Merlin from what I have read just the rear on soft is the bees knees for the AWD car. Mine is RWD so probably not the same balance as far as holding goes. I don't find the rear on stiff makes the ride very much firmer at all, just a bit but nothing jarring. I bought the sways as a combo so I felt obliged to put both on. If I had it to do over again I might just try the rear by itself first.

Thanks your all for sharing your knowledge and experiences. Sounds like all that had the bar(s) installed are satisfied in terms of handling. With mine being AWD, I am going to try the Eibach rear bar first and see how it feels. Hope it does not make the ride too stiff or uncomfortable in Comfort mode :). For those of in GTA or Canada, does anyone have dealt with a company called tdotperformance? They seem to have good prices compared to ebay.

RWD here. Rear sway bars for sure. Not sure which brand. I drive mostly in Sport because that's how I roll. :p As I think about it I like the stiffness in a turn. Maybe I'll go with fronts too. Why discriminate, right? :D

TDotPerformance is great, I have nothing but good things to say about them.

I did rear only on mine at first, if you go rear only with it on firm be careful. This setup makes the car easy to jump into oversteer mode quick.

Thanks for the tip. I am planning to set it to soft mode as I personally like less bumpy ride now

Thanks. Purchased a rear bar from them on a good bf deal.
Nice I saw that they had 20% off which was the best deal I've ever seen the Eibach stuff on for in Canada.
