Swaybar upgrade vs ESC reconfig by Mando module

Nice I saw that they had 20% off which was the best deal I've ever seen the Eibach stuff on for in Canada.

Yes, it was. :) That's why I was so tempted to purchase both front and rear bars together, but I think firming up just the rear should suffice like many others said, hopefully. Now, I have to decide whether to have it installed now or wait until next spring since I have winter wheels on.

BTW, can you recommend any shops for the installation?

Thanks

Ah, right. Sometimes I forget this web is world-wide :) Thanks anyways.

Cheers!

I did rear only on mine at first, if you go rear only with it on firm be careful. This setup makes the car easy to jump into oversteer mode quick.

Good to know, thanks! While I do prefer an oversteer over an understeer I have much to get used to in a big car like the Stinger. I'm still not quite comfortable yet.

Glad I found this, probably gonna get Eibach front/rear sway as well as ESC module.

Does anyone who has the rear sway bar installed know how many hours it would take a professional to complete the replacement/installation? I was at a dealer today and they couldn't tell me as they haven't done one yet.

Should only take an hour, but they’ll charge you for two

Not necessarily. Mine took less than an hour and a half and they charged me for one hour.

I just got my Whiteline sways (both) installed, and definitely noticeable. Makes the Stinger ride more like the wife's GTI. But, I also have the ECS10, and am adjusting those settings as well, so I'm not really stock anymore.

I went with the Eibach rear sway bar, on "soft" setting (for the street). So far, I have not invested time or money in the front sway bar; and truthfully, I don't think of it very much anymore, because to me the ride is fine. I liked the OE ride fine too, but wanted to improve "spirited" cornering handling. The rear sway bar did that enough for this tyro. :p I doubt that my level of "hooning" is going to require more stiffness than my car already has.

(There's a scene in the new movie, "Ford vs Ferrari" where Carroll Shelby - Matt Damon - yanks his Cobra around a corner, and it "floats" and kicks out in the rear, very noticeably, but he just counter steers, with the gas pedal down (you can tell), and the rear instantly gets back into line: I've experienced that exact thing in my Stinger, even with the Eibach rear sway bar; but with the sway bar upgrade, it takes more "violence" to produce the side step, and recovery is also more assured and instantaneous.)
This is helpful. Autocrossing the car I experienced what you mentioned about correcting the rear when it kicks out by planting the gas a bit. I tried to duplicate that in the next 2 runs but my OE tires were too hot and sliding by then.

Anyone with the Mando ESC, how has it been long term? Trying to decide if I should start with sways, and the go Mando if I still want more, or is it better to start Mando and see if that does the trick?

There are a couple of threads on the Mando unit and as an owner of the unit and my style of driving, I have found settings that I am comfortable with on my 2019 and don't feel the need for the sway bar. I had purchased one prior to getting the 2019, based on how my 2018 felt but after getting the 2019, didn't need it but later head about the Mando unit and installed it. This is the only mod on my car and I like that it has 4 custom modes to set and I can adjust as needed. The Mando is much easier to install than the sway, so you might start there. I helped my buddy install my sway on his car and it wasn't the easiest thing to do but we got it done.

Personally I'm leaning towards getting the Mando first and then seeing if I need swaybars. Based on the feedback, I doubt I will unless I turn this into a track car (not gonna happen, lol). Someone in the Mando thread made a good point, if you can get rid of the bodyroll and rear end hop with a simple retune of the existing suspension then it makes sense to start there instead of changing the suspension geometry itself. When I have money for another round of upgrades I'll be buying the Mando, better brake pads, and possibly the RWD-specific lowering springs.

What I would like to see them do is offer some additional options you can select to change the Stinger's setting to be like that of some of the other vehicles they have listed. Giving an option to choose from G70, G80 Sport or a tighter tune like the i30 N and Veloster N. It's nice having the custom modes but if you could also drop one of those setting into one of those, that would be nice.

I have a Mando unit on the way, but before it’s installed, does anyone know if the stock ECS takes over again when the Mando is not activated by the app (connected), including full adaptive capability? In other words, does just the Hardwired installation of the ECS10 disable the stock setup?
I also just received the Eibach rear sway and will start with that, but it sounds like both are well-liked in this forum.

With the box, the stock settings are not active. Whatever setting you left it on in the app is what it will be set at each time the car is started.

Would one have to physically disconnect the box to restore stock settings, or can that be done via the app?

You would need to disconnect the box, or at least unplug the cables from it, instead of doing a complete uninstall. I posted a video of the install in the DIY section, you can see there are 2 areas where the cables are plugged into the box. You can unplug there if you wan to go back to stock without removing it.
