Sunset Yellow Discussion

I had my repaint and I’m happy with it. I will not do a super in depth inspection either... it looks great outside in the sun ... I noticed the painted parts are slightly lighter than the bumper in my garage under the darkish light which doesn’t bother me at all... if your not looking for it you wouldn’t notice it anyway... this is by far the nicest car I have owned other than my 2017 cadenza which is much nicer( just slower :) ) and honestly everyone should know cars are depreciating assets that will be subjected to wear and tear as you drive it.... I honestly dont know what my point is as I am rambling on but just have fun with the car! Of course chipping should be fixed as that’s not normal with any new car but I’m sure cars that cost way more than these stingers have way more issues... I’m having a blast with mine and you should too!

I absolutely am having fun with it and love it! These blemishes weren’t intentionally found, just noticed under the situation. I’m not too worried about it. I know it will never be perfect. I can get it fixed and then get it totalled while driving it home.

Nothing it noticeable from 5’ away so I’m just curious about what other people might think before I go and buff/polish it.
Oh yes there are things noticeable from five feet away. You'll have Yellow, Blue, Red and Black owners telling you about the chips down to the metal, the flaking, peeling; paint coming off in not small amounts. Most paint issues are a lot less aggravating and unforgivable. But there really are some bad cases. If your paint shows nothing that you can see from that far away (even knowing before that it is there), personally I wouldn't worry about it.

I had to make a payment after the surrender as they didn't get my loan payed off in time and didn't want to risk a late payment. They of course payed it off the day after I made my payment to KMF..KMF sent my payment back to me after only a week, so it went pretty smoothly.
Yeah, i chatted with my credit union and they stated they would put any overage into my savings account with them as well. The issue will be the daily accrued interest that is NOT paid given KIA got a 10 day buy off amount on 11/28 and wont be making the actual payment until 12/27 now. KIA has advised they will reimburse me the difference after the fact. I still have a pending service contract that needs to be reimbursed so will go after them at the same time with KIA.

You sound like an abused wife.

I found a dealer owned sunset yellow limited with 73 miles on it but apparently the repaint color match isn’t perfect so it’s not the car for me. If anyone is interested let me know.

Got word from Kia that my repurchase paperwork has completed their review/audit process and sent on to Morley to facilitate the vehicle surrender. Any idea how long it'll take for them to contact me and set that up? Curious how much more time I've got to find a replacement. :)

Ain’t it great Merlin to own Silky Silvers? Lol

Lmao.... I just don’t care that much... it’s just a car ...
To each their own. To me the car, and it's price symbolize a significant amount of labor (about an entire year) for the average American. But whatever I guess.

Went to the smash repairer to get my rear spoiler painted and fitted, whilst there he showed me un prompted where the DCB has three subtle colour variations. Normally I wouldn't notice but to a spray painter does. It was noticeable where the boot meets the bumper and side of the car.
I also picked this up thought it might interest you "Ol' Yellas.20181220_130202.webp 20181220_130149.webp

The paint shop that repainted my yellow pointed out 5 different color variations on the original paint moving from front to back.
Now I am down to just two colors after repaint :)

On my yellow (not repainted).. I already had 3 different shades of yellow on it. Stood out like a sore thumb. The rockers were different(lighter) than all other panels and those strips on the roof were darker than everything else.

Yea my strips on the roof have always been darker... but it’s not really noticeable unless your standing right over the roof looking ...

So as I understand it, the Sunset Yellow cars bought back or traded in for new, will not be resold? I assume they might be auctioned off, or kept by Kia for whatever reason. That being said, the ones that are on the road are becoming more rare then. From what I garner, 400 total, only 236ish actually sold before the recall. Minus the ones turned back in, that may or may not ever see another owner. Mine is GT AWD, I wonder how many are GT rear wheel and GT2 in either version, so realistically, going on make and model and options, I may have one of say 50-100 GT AWD currently registered in the USA. My dealer has five left, four GT AWD and a GT2 AWD which the owner of the dealership drives. I to assume my calculations are correct? if so, we are a very small percentage then. Thank God that the owner had all these cars total stripdown respray by a very reputable shop, which includes a lifetime warranty.

Correction 271 were sold out of the 400 prior to the recall.
