Stinger Owners.....what other cars made your final list?

I was looking at the Chevy SS since I wanted to replace my Pontiac G8GT which had 110,000 miles and was starting to exhibit lots of items that needed attention. I actually liked my G8 better than the SS. The Chevy SS had really uncomfortable seats and the Bose stereo was no where as near as good as the factory Blaupunkt in my G8. So I stopped looking for a while and made some repairs to my G8. My wife and I were looking at the new Tellurides recently and we liked it but the prices were insane. One day on the lot my salesperson told me he just bought an orange Stinger. I said nice. He said here are the keys. Take it down the road and make sure you floor it. It was his personal vehicle and he just let me drive it alone. Anyway I was hooked and now own a 2019 GTS. The G8 had a bigger back seat and more interior volume than the Stinger inside the seated area and the trunk had 18 cubic feet of storage. It was the perfect car for me for 10 years and the now I find the Stinger to be the perfect replacement especially with the hatchback storage. I just went over my 600 mile break in period yesterday. Let the fun begin!

Realizing how great the Stinger line is, I'm curious to see what others considered prior to purchasing..... Audi A5, is350, Regal HB, Dodge Charger etc,etc ?
The charger scat pack was my only other choice but going by where I live which is in northern NJ we do get snow, which is why I chose the awd Stinger and I love it.

Agreed, I didn't want to pay more than MSRP on a Type R and I got a 2019 GT2 for the same price with taxes. It has so many features that I didn't care about (memory seats, heated steering wheel, etc.) that I didn't care about but now that I have them I appreciate them.
There are some features I am not even sure what they are or what they do, but the smart cruise control, blind spot warning, heated and cooled seats, 360 camera, and park assist are very cool to have, imho.

I also appreciate the 360 camera and the cooled seats (where I am is very hot and humid in spring and summer) which are not available on Type R. Then again the Type R is supposed to be more of a no-frills sports hatchback.

I also like the auto brake which is nice when you are sitting at a long light or waiting on a train.

Time to get out the manual to try to figure out how and why I need this feature.

From interior to exterior to high performance - everything you need for your Stinger awaits you...
There seems to be a trend here, people who buy Stingers like cars that are fun to drive. I got so bored yesterday that I decided to take the Stinger on my favorite back road that, while short, has a series of curves, including a few tight ones assigned 15 MPH. Carol was less than enthusiastic about me taking our new car out for a joy run so I decided to take the Corvette instead. I still plan on taking the Stinger on this road to see how it handles these curves, but it was good to get a fresh baseline for me with the Vette. While I used to drive this road once a week when i was working, I have not been on it in a while now. It is, however, just as fun in the Corvette as I remember it, although possibly it was even better back in the day when I drove it in my Miata with a manual trans.

I had a whole slew of cars on my list. The final ones i i test drove were Stinger (winner), G70, IS350, S60, TLX. I test drove the stinger and the G70 on the same day, and both my wife and i agreed that the stinger felt better to drive and ride in.

I currently have a Charger RT and if dodge would have changed their body style this year would have got a Charger Scat Pack

I was looking at the last Commodore SSV Redline (the price of which has skyrocketed since Holden production ceased), BMW 435 or the Holden Commodore VXR. Kinda wished I went for the Redline tbh...

Why so? What's the Stinger lacking for you....just curious

Dunno, maybe the V8 thing...I find the seating position not quite right, just haven't been head over heels for it you know? It's a fine car but just hasn't grabbed me like I thought it would.

That's fair.....and if you feel like you "settled " you'll never enjoy .....sorry to hear

You need to use the paddles more :Dhave you got an aftermarket exhaust? It was a must for me.

My MBRP is an acceptable stand-in, but it's no V8.
When I drive my 220k mi POS Dodge Ram, that V8 rumble still puts a smile on my face.

I know the feeling. My Corvette has an NPP exhaust and I have a switch to turn on the wilder side whenever I want, which is often. Especially with the windows down, the sound is so cool. Unfortunately, with the windows up and at speeds, it drones too much in the cabin, but I can then turn it off so it is the best of both worlds. It would be even better if the car were a stick, but with the paddles I can still make music with it.

I’m still Stingerless (since I had to return the Premium I ALMOST bought), but once this crap blows over (without me losing my job), I’m going to take a look at the used MKZ Reserve AWD w/3.0TT and the Chrysler 300 S (hopefully with the Hemi).
Need a larger car with good size trunk - Stinger is perfect, but the numbers have to make sense. A must is a folding rear seat - will be getting rid of my ole’ trusty ‘06 Tundra.

The MKZ interior is outdated to say the least and in my personal opinion the MKZ has the image of a car for old old veeeery old men. The Crysler interior no comment. But is your money buy what makes your testicles tickle and happy. :D

That's an eclectic list my friend! M3 /ATS-v both sedan format I assume? How long have you had you Stinger now; satisfied; mods?

I don't see anything unusual about it - I had pretty much the same list. Q50 Red Sport and Charger SRT in there too, and CTS-v instead of ATS-v. Seating room / comfort / 4 doors / bang-for-buck pretty much narrowed it down to Charger and Stinger and I'm not a huge F.C.A. fan..

The Chevy SS is an incredible car — but it is about to become extinct
What a review! Almost like describing a Stinger; and right as the Stinger was coming on-stage and the SS was exiting, stage left. Strange to be reading this now: I had no awareness of cars, really, when this was written. Everything about car enthusiasm was "meh", back then (pre-Stinger). Now: I'd love to drive one of these in standard tranny mode. The trunk is probably big enough; I'd miss the hatch, though. "Roomy back seats"? Okay, probably as good as the Stinger's.

SS has noticeably more rear leg room compared to the Stinger..
