stinger mini

Straight Pipes did a comparo between the two last year, they're pretty close. They tested a 2019 Golf R, I imagine that the 2022 iteration with more power is probably a really nice competitor.
Golf R still looks basically the same as Golf City. Stinger is one of one and if there is a badge change like mine most people don't know what it is, but a lot ask as it so cool looking.

Agreed with the no button thing not being safe. How can you find a button on a touch screen and see a kid dart out? A couple of months with physical buttons and you don't even have to look to do what you want

Another big plus for me getting the Stinger was the 10 year bumper to bumper extended warranty. For a couple of grand more it's still cheaper than S5.

For sure the Stinger is a great value, just not $20k cheaper than a comparably equipped S5.

I admittedly never really gave the Golf R much attention but I must say the 2022s should be quite interesting with 315 hp and AWD and (probably) weighing less than 3400 lbs. Its going to be fast and nimble.

I just can't stand the looks of any "traditional" hatchback. To me, no matter how much faster it may be than a Stinger it'll always look like a clown car. I'd take a good looking quick car over a fast clown car anyday.

Voice technology flat out doesn't work. Don't even pretend that it's a useful way to control the car.

Core daily functionality should be buttons, knobs, and switches that any reasonable person can find, see, and operate without an advanced degree from the manufacturer or without studying the manual carefully and trying things out for several days.

I *want* casual drivers to be able to drive my car. At its core, a car should be a standard thing--more so than "four wheels and a steering wheel".

What will the manufacturers do when the rental market wants something anyone can get in and drive?

It's clear that you have strong preferences for physical buttons. That's great. There are plenty of cars out there for your liking. I happen to prefer less buttons. However, I'm proud to report that I've operated my last two cars as button-free as possible and have run over zero children. Considering that there are literally hundreds of thousands of Teslas on the road operating just fine and safely, I think it's safe to say that your preferences aren't the only ways to do things.

With that, I'll bow out of the thread unless I have thoughts on "Stinger mini" options.

We're way off topic here.
The K5 has a dinky cargo space of 16 cubic feet; 112.2 wheelbase on 16" wheels; and this first year in the US it apparently is only FWD.

The K5 family offers AWD.

The K5 GT is FWD only, but comes on 19" wheels.

Shoot, even the lower trims offer 18" wheels.

what about that?

What about that link refutes anything I said? To the contrary--Kia's web site confirms what I said.

It should--that's where I got the info on AWD and 18"/19" wheels to begin with.
Not on that page, which is the only one I've looked at so far. Where are you looking to get the other, optional info?

Some days, I just don't know. :p I've been doing online stuff for what, 18 years now? Almost 19 years. And I still can't see my way around a page sometimes. Seriously! It took you pointing it out for me to SEE those trims tabs. Thanks.:)

(I blame it on the gray. Hah.)

Interesting that the annoying ISG is only on the lowest trim.

I would bet the mortgage that that's a mistake on the web site, and that every trim gets it.

I mean, to begin with, Kia's web site is really just a hot mess and can't be relied upon for many more things than this.

I don't see any mention of AWD; been back and forth all over the layout and everything else I can think of. Where did you see AWD?

(edit: I see hollow circles for the LXS and GT-Line only for AWD, in the trims comparison page; what does a not-solid circle mean?)

I was very interested in the Audi S5 too, but to spec it out like a GT2, It was coming in around 66k with destination. that's not including ventilated front seats either, as you would have to delete the red Nappa Leather to get them. I got my GT2 for 42.5k, even if I could scrape off 4k from the Audi, we are talking roughly 20k more. It's a beautiful car no doubt, but that 20k was a big deal. Adding exhaust, rims, jB4, Intakes, etc, I'm runnin 4.2 to 60mph all day for about 46k-47k, and it's RWD for some tail out fun. I would say though, if money was no issue, I would get the Audi and tune that!

I totally get it! I work in IT everyday and sometimes I look for something I know should be there. .. and it takes someone to walk up and basically point to the big button that says exactly what I am looking for. ..
