3.3TT SSR Performance Dual Front Mount CAI - PRE-ORDER SPECIAL! (pics/vid inside)

Warning... These will may not fit with the Wagner Intercooler. Would be interested to see if it does.

I received my intake today, started the install, still not done.

Looks like the easy part is done.

God, I hope you are wrong. That was a PITA. LOL. The instructions say to use WD-40. If you get this intake, use WD-40....makes it so much easier.

The real question... Where did you use the lubricant? From the looks of your progress I can guess. Haha

If you like the smell of sheep sweat you could use fluid film instead. WD-40 is meh.

I have it installed, it sounds amazing, feels like a beast. Bumper removal was pretty straightforward, four bolts and around 17 clips. I left the harness connected, didn't feel the need to disconnect it.

Nice! What intake did you have installed prior? And everyone's gonna ask now about noise and acceleration impressions...

I did not have an intake installed prior, as I have been waiting since October to receive this intake. However, I have experienced the Stillen intake, and I would say this is significantly louder. As for the performance gains, it feels like a significant increase. There's definitely some synergy between my exhaust, secondary cat delete, and this intake. I will be getting a dyno done with this setup in a month or so, I will post up the results.

Looks nice and i'm glad it performs well!

I think this is the only true CAI made for this car and IMO the best design as far as performance potential. My only concern would be getting to the filters to clean them. Stillen made a similar styled intake for the 370z/G37 (Don't get me started on the level of crap they've offered for this car vs Infiniti/Nissan..) that for the Z, wasn't prone to getting much dirt on it and for the G37, you could buy a removable grill so getting the bumper off every time you wanted to get to the filters wasn't needed.

BAd ass man! you should have got your self a set of Hydro shield mesh covers to put on before you put it all back together.

I really wanted to do this, but with South Texas heat, I am going to go with the Wagner IC and I just don't see how they could both fit.

I'm not ruling out the hydroshield, or some alternative shield. I've seen some setups where there are plastic or metal shields in front of the filter, which I've looked for, but I haven't found any that fit yet. The interesting thing about this setup is only about 20 percent of the filter is actually directly in front of the grill. If you zoom into the grill picture you will see, it's somewhat protected. I realize that I'm at risk, but I don't know if I like the idea of running around with hydroshield 24/7. I would like to see what are the impacts of using the hydroshield, maybe there's no drawback?

I personally will not buy an intake with filter elements that are as exposed as those in this design. I had a true CAI on my 2014 STI where the intake was down in the fender well, and one day after running it through the carwash as soon as I got out of the wash bay and gave it some throttle pulling onto the road the engine died and I had to take the intake apart. I found water in the tube and the filter element was quite wet. I'm guessing water hit the MAF and the car shutdown to protect the engine as the engine did not hydrolock and ran just fine after cleaning out the intake tube and blowing off the MAF.

I am not telling anyone not to buy this, everyone gets to make their own choices and my priorities may differ from yours. I daily drive my car and experience all kinds of weather conditions (and will continue to run it through an automatic car wash). If I had not experienced what happened in my STI with a CAI, I would definitely be buying this intake. It has the best sound and produces the biggest power gains of all the intakes on the market. If none of these things concern you then I see no reason not to buy this intake.

I'm certain aftermarket shields could be incorporated.

Now for the the real decision to be made; Is it 2 plus times more performance for the cost not to mention the install cost for those of us not gear heads. I paid $85.00 to have the BMS CAI installed. Thanks

I ordered them sooooo long ago- i know have SSR downpipes and now the CAI and i must say the car is a different car. The downpipes made it more punchy and the CAI has made it feel like a new car when in sport and accelerating. Didnt think the car could get better -it just did!
