Hi I am getting this message when trying to enable the cruise control. " SMART CRUISE CONTROL CONDITIONS NOT MET"

Used for a week no issues then just happened one day. Any one else have this issue? I have tried cleaning the window section covering the censer.

I think it can do that if you have a left foot on the brake, or if you are too close to the car in front (depending on how your distance is set) or if you are accelerating so the computer doesn't know what speed you want.

There are a lot of conditions that can cause this. I find I get the message when I thought I set it and try and resume but I actually never set it. So basically when I push up and not down after enabling the cruise! So many things to check I would say give a good read to the owners manual.

You can check the manual here:

https://stingerforum.org/kia-stinger-owner-manuals/2018-kia-stinger-owners-manual.pdf

Page 5-79 is the regular cruise information and 5-82 is the Smart cruise specifics.

If that does not help you figure it out then maybe bring it to the dealer. Please keep us posted, especially if it is an actual SCC failure.

Good luck!

This is the only way I’ve seen that message.

Are you seeing the green steering wheel and two bright white lines in the HUD?
Then getting the error?

Not an error. It is telling you exactly what is going on. At the moment you tried to sett he cruise control, the required parameters weren't met.

Cruise will not engage - giving you this type of message - if Traction Control is off.

I’ve seen this in 2 scenarios:

1) Attempting to resume when no previous speed has been set.

2) Foot on the brake when attempting to set.

Thanks for the responses I will have another play tonight. I couldn't find anything in the manual so far. except
if esc or traction control is off it wont work.

A third scenario where I've seen this is if you are stopped. I think it'll happen below a certain speed, too.

I'm having this same issue too. I don't think it's user error, as I use mine daily (part of my commute is stop and go). The error actually occurred while SCC was activated. Cruise deactivated, the message appeared, and it chimed twice.

Googling the issue shows that error this has occurred in other Kia and Hyundai models, but i couldn't find anything Stinger related except here. I didn't see where this was resolved, but I'm taking mine in soon to have it checked.

I'm having this same issue too.

It's now at the second dealer. First one wouldn't acknowledge the problem. User error, that's not how it's supposed to work, etc...

Second dealer (and thankfully they have given me a loaner!) is on day 3 of diagnosis. Will wait and see, but this has been a very disappointing experience.

Mine just fixed its self one day like a couple weeks back. The only thing I did different I can think of is use the navigation.

Hello, I had the same thing occurred to me too, the only difference was the Forward assist avodience system check came on as well. I took it into the dealership and they found out my sensor was faulty. They are overnighting the part and will have my car ready for tomorrow.

I'm having pretty much exactly the same problem. Used SCC fine for a just under a week (today's the 6th day I've had the car) and while driving along on the freeway with SCC on, it deactivated because "conditions not met" and now cannot activate SCC at all because "conditions not met". Will have to take it into the dealer to have a look.

I was hoping they got this type of issue fixed. On my 2015 Sonata, I would get condition not met often and for no apparent reason.

I was able to somewhat figure out when it would happen. On days that I would go get gas, I’d drive about a mile from my home, turn off the car, pump gas and then turn the car back on and hit the highway. About 3 miles from the gas station or after going about 5 miles, I’d try to do SCC and it would say condition not met.

On days I didn’t get gas...had no issue. My guess is that the car was on for a short period then off and back on...and this potentially messed with it?

Only time I've seen this is when I have the TCS disabled. If that helps anyone.
