PRESSERtech tune review

When is Tork gonna release your/their v1.5 tune, @Tonkabob ? Haha. I'd like to have something in between their V1 tune, but not quite balls to the wall V2 as I don't want to use any supplemental fuel to keep up with the demands (ie I just want to keep the stock fuel system, no meth).

Also, I've emailed Tork a few times now with questions and no response. I have no doubt they make a solid tune, and I like the way they tinker with the Stinger, but hot damn you gotta take care of your customers even if it's something as simple as giving them the time of day! Amiright? Haha.

Anyway, Scott over at PRESSERTech told me their tune targets anywhere between 15-20 psi, and AFR's around 11.5:1 - 12.8:1, all depending on environment (which I assume primarily means IAT's and octane). I want to see dyno charts of their tune with mods...but have yet to see any. If this keeps up, I may just get their damn tune myself and post my own before/after sheet because I'm an impatient fool always ready to blow money on unnecessary things.

Tork doesnt care. Customer service is shit. IMO they have a solid product but i would not want to be on the back end of a problem with the tune. Based on everything we have seen we know it wont end well for the customer.

Id go with Presser or Alpha at this time. OR wait for this Kagan guy that has came out of no where with some crazy good results (a little too good lol jk)

the tune to cost

In one of his replies on this forum, Todd had mentioned $1,250. for a Stage 2 tune. I confirmed with him, that that is still the price.
Ya, it's not cheap, but - believe it or not - i don't have a mobile phone and a piggy-back would probably make a phone a necessity (or nice to have) -
which would increase the cost of ownership and probably makes the cost for either option a wash - for me.
The reason I am attracted to this type of tune is the "set & forget" aspect. I am not going to the track, drag, try to beat the 0-60 times or similar.
I just want a fast car and no worries that the car will last as long as I want it to.

go with Presser Tech, you won't be sorry.
smooth power and OEM reliability.
Todd is a class act.

Well, yes I am. Feb 13 is the big day.
Thanks for confirming my decision.

Nice.
Another benefit is that you do not need to change or gap plugs and you will get really impressive MPG, I think this is a testament to the efficiency of Todd's tune.
I drove to Las Vegas last year in the middle of the night and averaged 100 mph and still got 20 MPG.
On the way back there was traffic so I averaged 80 mph and got 22 MPG.
Keep in mind that I was driving it hard so to me this was impressive.

There truly is nothing like a well balanced complete ECU tune done by a classy professional like Todd Presser.

Says the guy who isn't even a Tork customer. Lol.
They do miss an email from time to time.

You don't have to be a customer to see how poorly they interact with people. I'm sure the way he behaves on the internet has cost him more than a few customers.

I wouldn't trust him with my car, based on what I've seen online. And I wouldn't trust him with my money, based on what I've seen on his website.

You're welcome to your opinion.

He doesn't interact here or "on the internet" because he doesn't need to. He has plenty of customers keeping him busy thru his reputation in the industry. I am grateful he reached out to this community at all, because he certainly isn't going to get rich on the handful of Stinger owners that go his way.

80 mph and got 22 MPG

Pretty good. After a couple of "lesson" in WV & VA, I m now driving with an Escort & Radenso.
On two trips to FL, round trip close to 3,100 miles, I averaged 10.8 l/100 km or 22 MPG.
Not driving hard as you describe, but with a certain urgency, with some bouts in FL on the interstate,
and usually as fast as my "companions" would suggest.
The trip from Smyrna to Ft. Lauderdale will give a good indication of how successful the tune was. :)

He is talking about tork lol

I've been to the shop no less than 10 times and they are always busy.
Look for a new video coming out this week. Not my car unfortunately.

I wouldn't use anything from Tork, even if they paid me.

So i managed to stumble across two more tunes.

VR Tuned ECU Flash Tune Kia Stinger GT 3.3L Turbo 370HP

And I think someone brought this one up?

Lambda II ECU Tune
These guys are actually local to me but there tune seems very mild.
Looks like a simple canned tune to me. Better off with a JB4 than a simple copy and paste can. Tork would probably tell you more how trash canned tunes are and how much better are tunes done right (by that he means his tune). However I am not tork nor a tuner, so make your own conclusions.

The spark plug statement is not entirely true, and sorry to say but those MPG results are actually disappointing.

If you are lucky enough to be one of the people that actually got correct & uniform plug gaps from the factory then you will be ok since its such a mild tune. However if you're like some owners that had poor OEM gapping, then the tune will just reveal and exaggerate that issue.

The main reason Pressertech hasnt run into that issue yet is because they've only tuned a few Stingers vs the several thousand that have chips and are pushing more boost. Multiple tuners originally said the OEM plugs & gaps were fine until enough people got them and eventually found out the plug issues are a common fault in a lot of Stingers.

Stock and modded Stingers get around 25mpg cruising at 80mph, and up to 28-30mpg at 70mph. Too bad you cant easily see your AFR like you can on the top chips so you can find out why your MPG is worse than most Stingers. Maybe invest in a OBDII reader to see if your running too rich at low RPM and Pressertech can re-calibrate it to help.

I'm actually going to go in on Friday to do this tune with Weistec. I have a jb4 now w/out fuel wires and it's only set to map1. It's decent as a power/boost upgrade but isn't as smooth as previous ecu tunes I've had on other vehicles. They are local to me and will experiment with this reputable tuner until I see more of the kagantuned/alphaspeed charts/info.

It's a mild tune, but still more than what I get currently with the Jb4.

I doubt you will be disappointed. Wistec is legit. ITs a mild tune, but you can get Terry to stack on top of it with a custom map 6. That way you daily is more "mild" but you have a "wild option" with map 6.

Yea, I don't think I'll be disappointed I was researching them when I was looking into a c63 before the stinger entered the picture. I don't do a lot of straight line runs (mostly b/c of my shit AS tires), most of my spirited stuff comes from running canyons in the Angeles in LA. BUT, I am still following closely Alpha/Kagan, with Kagan really peaking my curiosity from his recent post and possible OBD remote tuning. Logically, that seems to be far off so I wanted something more "all around" than the jb4 I'm running.
