PRESSERtech tune review

No, they’re not anywhere close to those gains and they’re actually being a little deceptive with their hp/tq comparisons.

Their 459hp/522hp vs 365hp/376tq is an untrue comparison because they are using Kias very underrated factory numbers. Their own dyno and tons of others dynos proved about 395hp/460tq=335whp/390wtq from a completely stock Stinger.

Their actual dyno comparison for the Stage 2 tune shows gains of only 59whp/56wtq and that’s with K&N high flow intakes. A piggyback Stinger with only intakes & 91 octane fuel gains 89whp/123wtq or 113whp/128wtq with octane boosters/e30. That’s about double the power gains at half the cost.

This is actually a very mild tune because Kagantuned’s Stage 1 ECU tune gained up to 94whp/134wtq with absolutely no other performance mods. He expects about 430whp+ after adding intakes, and his tune only costs $750(Kia Stinger GT 3.3TT Stage 1 Tune)

Don’t get me wrong, Pressertech is a very reputable high quality tuner, but the facts show that their tune is the most conservative & lowest powered options available at this time.

Sorry, but you are wrong. My stock whp was 316.

Peak power gains aren't everything and aren't the end-all to actually making a car faster.

Sorry but I’m not wrong.:rolleyes:I never said “all” dynos, I said tons. And didn’t you use a Mustang dyno, not the usual dynojet?

Most stock Stingers dynojets are between 325-345whp and that includes the top tuners & manufactures results from Pressertech, BMS, Tork, Stillen, K&N, KHARTUNERZ, etc. Look them up and you will see that around 330whp is the standard, and what the most reputable sources show.

I agree. As others have said the “power under the curve” and the wider higher torque curve usually makes the quicker car. Unfortunately Pressertechs tune is down about 50-70wtq across the whole power band vs Kagantuned & top piggybacks which most definitely means less performance.

.
No, I used an AWD dynojet. You are wrong about the @pressertech tune and the power it puts out.

If it's fast that's all that counts. Dynos vary and don't mean much.

Well, according to PRESSERTech themselves they actually only replaced the OEM filters with K&N flat panel filters - it was still using the stock intake.

Taken from their blog...

The only difference from Stock that we adjusted is a K & N High Flow Air Filter.

...even so, I still get what you're saying.

So I've been in limbo until about two weeks ago what to do with my stinger. I was about to hop on the piggyback train but never jumped on. Read to many threads with people having problems. Sure they were nothing serious but this is my DD (60mi a day). Last thing I need is my car to act up in Southern California traffic. With that being said I reached out to a member that got fthe Pressertech tune. Regardless, I decided to call Pressertech and spoke to Todd. I explained my situation and reassured me you don't need to anything to your car for this tune other then send in your ECU. He said the tune was created with reliability in mind. As far as why they don't come on here anymore....he said there are to many "experts"on here and this forum leans heavily towards piggybacks. I can't agree with him more lol. Regardless, I did more homework on pressertech and I could only find good reviews and /or feedback about them. I'll let you guys know how it all works out when I get it done!

Agree on the ecu tune but go Tork instead. No head aches no hastle but a little more power.

When is Tork gonna release your/their v1.5 tune, @Tonkabob ? Haha. I'd like to have something in between their V1 tune, but not quite balls to the wall V2 as I don't want to use any supplemental fuel to keep up with the demands (ie I just want to keep the stock fuel system, no meth).

Also, I've emailed Tork a few times now with questions and no response. I have no doubt they make a solid tune, and I like the way they tinker with the Stinger, but hot damn you gotta take care of your customers even if it's something as simple as giving them the time of day! Amiright? Haha.

Anyway, Scott over at PRESSERTech told me their tune targets anywhere between 15-20 psi, and AFR's around 11.5:1 - 12.8:1, all depending on environment (which I assume primarily means IAT's and octane). I want to see dyno charts of their tune with mods...but have yet to see any. If this keeps up, I may just get their damn tune myself and post my own before/after sheet because I'm an impatient fool always ready to blow money on unnecessary things.

All my before and after sheets sucked, but my car is quick and fast, even at altitude. Go for the Pressertech tune

Let us know

Sure will!
It's happening on the second day of a three-day-drive from Toronto to Fort Lauderdale.
Following the tune, we have another 10 hours of Interstate and Turnpike to enjoy what we've just got.
Close enough to my birthday. You might call a birthday present, and a big one!

So what are you expecting the tune to cost if you don’t mind please?

The wide range is odd unless he is giving you options. 2 psi change is normal based on iats but afr should be consistent.
I'd call Tork in the afternoon pacific. They may be able to give you a little more than stage 1. 20 psi, maybe 21 is about the limits with out more fuel.
They may go 19 or 20 psi. Higher the boost the easier to overboost as well.
