PRESSERtech Kia Stinger GT Dyno RESULTS!!

These guys are local...my obviously my interest is high as I can just drive there.

We've confirmed that the spark plugs don't need to be gapped, and I can just have them adjust the values on the ECU...correct? I did a tune on my '16 Optima and had to change plugs, gap them, etc, etc and still had pre detonation issues. Ended up $800 in the hole and went back to stock.

I'm still breaking the car in, but looking to do this in a few months...

Yes, that is correct. They've had no issues on any of their cars and mine, the get AWD is performing perfectly.

Stock gaps vary so one mans working car is anothers time bomb.
People are removing the plugs with swivel sockets and not having to remove the intake manifold. Worth a check and a regap or replace

I understand that the dealership probably won't be able to see the ecu tune, but doesn't the ecu log turbo pressure? If something happens, wouldn't they see boost way over stock and know something is up?

Although this wasn't what I wanted my tune for, here is an added benefit: improved fuel economy.

This portion of my commute, in comfort mode, was consistently between 29.0 and 30.0 before the tune. Not only do you get better performance, especially in Sport mode, but better mpgs and added power in Comfort mode.

are you kidding me?? why did you post this? I live 2 hours from these guys and what I perceived as probably abysmal gas mileage from the tune was one of the main reasons I thought I probably wouldn't get this done any time soon. Are you sure this is correct? If it isn't too much trouble, maybe do a manual gas mileage calculation and see how close it is to your car's reading? 34 MPG on a 450 hp car is insane, in a wonderful way if true.

Yes, if they wanted to go digging that far they could prob see certain things out from factory spec in log. If you have to go in for any kind of problem that would require them to pull a log, (like ecu replacement or certain components that could trigger a check engine light) we would recommend sending in for a reflash to stock. This is a complimentary service. A dealer is in the business to make money on warranty so they will do everything they can to push warranty claims. Its really nothing to worry about. :)

That was a great day. For the most part, on this daily commute, I average 31 mpg,. This morning I drove crazy aggressive, in sport mode all the way, and still tallied 28.8.

I never do manual mpg calcs, bc they are worthless imo. With temp and elevation changes, fuel in the tank expands and contracts, leading to potentially wide variances in fuel consumed. This is especially true at this time of year.

With over 3,000 miles on this tune, my economy has improved even with the frequency of which I tap into Sport mode and snap my head back! This has been the case with every car I've ever had my ECU tuned for, so it is normal in my experience.

I'm at 500 HP with all my mods including ECU tune and still get 30 MPG highway. Turbo and direct injection are amazing!

very nice, I guess leaning the engine out is helping the fuel economy.
Leaning out is not what we do, we bring the power curve in so engine does not work as hard. Leaning out to a safe limit is implemented but never past 15:1. We dont want to put holes in your pistons or burn up your spark plugs

I just have to share. My car is now wicked fast with this tune. Results may vary, but here are mine:

As I have not been able to find an AWD capable dyno for my use in or near El Paso, I took a different route to assess my power and performance.

I purchased the Android App; Torque Pro. I also purchased a BlueTooth OBD2 reader/transmitter. These allow me to run diagnostics and data logging. I also can use GPS enabled 0-60, 0-100, 1/4 mile, etc. times.

It is essential to set-up the correct profile within the App for your car, including the exact weight (including driver) (1,940kg without my spare tire or back panel, plus fuel), fuel level and other items.

Before hand, I also used my GPS to calibrate my speedometer to ensure accuracy of my times. This process confirmed the data within the written warning I received for excess speed last week from the TXHP...

Yesterday, in 50 degree weather, and using launch control, I attained a 3.99s 0-60 and 536 HP (flywheel). If drivetrain loss is 15%. that puts me at 455whp. To be conservative, I made sure to overstate my total weight, thus my hp might be higher. I haven't figured out to assess torque yet, but once I do.....

Nice what mods do you have aside from tune?

Those times via OBDII devices is not at all accurate. Use a high speed GPS system for accurate performance testing: dragy - GPS Based Performance Meter - Free Shipping in USA
Terry is absolutely right, your times are not going to be anywhere near accurate or consistent. I have an even better idea than the dragy, get that Stinger over to the southwest university motorplex! They do test n tune on Friday. If you've never been to a drag strip don't be apprehensive, it's fun and very easy to do, plus you'll see all kinds of cars racing there. From old slow trucks running 18s to drag cars running 9s.

Followers, I don't have a dog in this hunt, so you can freely do your own research and make your own determination of what you want to do. Although my assessment is it is a bit unprofessional to inject into the thread of a competing vendor, Terry from Burger Motorsports has a good product and I believe his efforts to bring value are sincere.

I have no interest in citing my resume or my intellectual pedigree in a measuring contest. Suffice it to say, I did everything possible to check and double-check my inputs, speedometer accuracy, the ratings of the Torque Pro App vs others to include dragy, etc, to be certain what I post is sincere and reliable. I gain nothing from publishing intentionally false or unintentionally false information.

This is all math, plain and simple. My tuned HP ratings coupled with my weight, trans type, drive train, etc support a best 0-60 time of 3.901s. My performance of 3.99 is reasonable. The time lapse on the video 0-60 came in a little farther under 4.0s. I would post that video too, but I fat fingered it into oblivion during my elevated level of excitement. For what it's worth, there is a ton or additional potential within the Stinger. Todd and his team at PresserTech tapped into it and I am highly satisfied.

Thank you for this info! I had not yet figured out how to connected with Southwest University Motorplex, so knowing this Friday feature is awesome!

I'm not commenting on your tuning or it's performance. Just saying your performance testing is a waste of your time because it's inherently flawed. Use the right tools to measure performance. While nothing beats a dragstrip for fun and 1/4 mile times you need a dragy or VBOX system to accurately measure 0-60mph, 0-100mph, 60-130mph, etc. And they are $149 shipped so not exactly a large monetary investment. ;)
