• PLEASE! It is VERY important that this area is not used for the discussion of technical issues with your Stinger. This section is for posting about regional-specific things like Stinger clubs, events, local vendor or dealer recommendations, KiaStinger.com member sightings, etcetera... In other words, I do NOT want people to need to scour through several different sections to find answers about their heads up display. That's why there's a section dedicated specifically to discussions like that. THANK YOU!

Pictorial where did you go in your Stinger today

Well, managed to get to Liege in one piece. Took about 11h with stops.
The Autobahn was a mixed deal. First part was a nightmare. Heavy rain and only 2 lanes + trucks allowed to overtake delivered a pretty bad experience. A lot of heavy braking from 170 km/h to 100. Much worse than a normal highway!
Second part was much nicer. Better weather and 3 lanes meant I could cruise at about 170 with a few 200+ sprints.
But, I think I cooked my brakes because they feel like they picked up some minor vibration.
All in all it was a nice drive. Worse thing was the fuel price in Germany - 2,4 eur/liter. This means about 10$ per gallon (I think). Best thing is the beer I’m having now.
Tomorrow a day off from long driving and the exhibition and then I will go to Barcelona for the race :)

Hiked the Big Cottonwood canyon overlook. On our way there, I stopped by Jerry Seiner to see if the two Stingers I saw Monday (which I know belong to employees of the dealership) were around. The Micro Blue was, and lo and behold, it is owned by the salesman who sold me mine over four years ago. :D

At the trailhead, the parking lot was full enough to make me choose the roadside above.

A follow up of my visit to Jerry Seiner Kia yesterday (and meeting my salesman after c. four years :D). The reason I was there wasn't merely to take a gander at two more Stingers, but to settle a nagging question: am I literally "seeing things"?

This really came to my attention c. five years ago, but I won't burden you with older details of this disturbing and "interesting psychological phenomenon" (it has a name, which was given to me today, and I've already spaced that off, heh).

Monday, when I saw these two Stingers parked side by side, the second thing that I noticed was that they both had "Scorpion" spoilers: clearly the White is a limited Scorpion Edition: but there are no Blue Scorpions, so, I focused on the Micro Blue phenomenon: I even went inside and asked a salesman about the Blue "Scorpion" spoiler, and he confirmed that it had to be an aftermarket addition: he didn't contradict my pointing out that it was Blue and a "Scorpion" spoiler (that part remains odd: if I heard someone describing a spoiler by the wrong color and design I would point out the error at once: but maybe he was nearsighted or just humoring me). I went out to get a pic or two, but as I was walking toward the cars, my car came back with the tech driving it and I didn't get the pics. (Wish I had: none of this would have happened, because the pic of the Blue would have disabused my fooled eyes.)

Back in February when I went down to Kingman AZ to drive along with the People's Convoy, I passed by this temple of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints being built in Orem alongside I-15. The weather was atrocious but I had a long, clear view of the building and focused especially on the "Angel Moroni" which I saw tipping the steeple. Three days later, on my return home, I repassed the same spot and WTH!?, the statue of Moroni with his trumpet was GONE. I did so many double, triple, quadruple takes until it was out of sight in my rearview mirror that I almost gave myself whiplash: but the statue had been "replaced" with a lightning rod.

So, my "mission" this afternoon, since I was out to settle my Monday hallucination, included a drive down to the building site to ask if the statue of Moroni had ever been put up temporarily then taken down for some reason. As I walked closer to the temple I became more certain that no statue was going up there ever. I found the building construction supervisor and asked my question, "Has there ever been a statue of the Angel Moroni up there?" To which he replied in the negative, and added further: "Most modern temples do not have an Angel Moroni on them; none being built along the Wasatch Front will have them anymore."

So, hallucinating statues and now spoilers. From now on I am taking more pictures.

All the driving around was fun, naturally. :)

Stopped by the beach to check the surf, went to the Elliot Auto Museum, then lunch and some beer. it was a good day.

There's some nice toys in there !

Still in love with the Daihatsu Midget II ( the teal one in your pics ). Drove one in Japan many years ago and it was so ridiculous, I fell in love with it !

Hi guys! First part of my road trip is done. I'm back in Vienna today and tomorrow Bucharest. Left my car in Geneva and will fly back there on Friday evening with my girlfriend to pick-up where I left off :)
The race was super fun but mega hot weather and no beer allowed at the track :(
Then, on the way back to Geneva airport I visited the Millau viaduct, the tallest bridge in the world. Much more impressive in real life than in the picture. Driving in France was really wonderful but also crazy expensive. The tolls are about 10-12 eur per 100km.
The bad thing is my brakes are totally cooked. They vibrate like mad under heavier braking. Tried to re-bed with no success. This is after I had them resurfaced about 2 months ago. Sadly, only lasted a few thousand km. So my EBC experience was very bad. I'm switching back to OEM rotors and pads next week.
And then, the road trip will continue through Italy and Switzerland until mid-June.

I'll bet the rotors are at fault. You resurfaced them and they didn't last, and now you can't rebed them, so, that indicates cooked rotors; not the pads fault. If it were me, replacing both, I'd be okay going with OEM rotors, but I'd definitely try aftermarket pads next time around - this only because I think maybe I got lucky with OEM pads: at c. 53K miles I've experienced only smooth braking: but by all the anecdotal experiences on here, aftermarket pads have far fewer vibration issues.

I've been dreaming at doing an Australian road trip for quite some time :). But first, I'm slowly planning a coast to coast US one.

@MerlintheMad both rotors and pads are EBC. Weirdly they don't work well together. Pad barely got used while they ate into the rotors like crazy. So I'm changing everything to OEM as that was the best combo for me as well. But anyway, let's not discuss too much technical stuff here :)

Just a local back road, but the autumn colors and a setting sun made it look great!
I like the tastefully blacked out license plate particularly, instead of the barbaric scribble with "paint" that almost everybody else does.
