Sweet I'll probably go this route, looks more like a kit purchased

Has anyone thought about creating a heat shield like K&N and AEM? Could use some tin and garage door rubber trim seal?

I'm browsing home depot for this right now LOL. I also asked in stinger FB group. Curious about replies here before I wing it

That is exactly what I'm doing right now I'm at Home Depot looking for all the parts for the intake and diverter valve cap

Not exactly the same, but I made my own DIY heat shielding wall with ThermoTec aluminum heat barrier and it works wonders.

Doesn’t look as good as the ~$500 intakes but saves tons of money and has the same effect. Just wrapped it over the strut bar so it made a wall between the turbos/engine and the filters so it draws more air from the OEM inlets and front of the car. Huge difference in air temp on each side of the barrier and a must have when adding to DIY intakes.

Terry made a comment on my fb post advertising his intake (bms intake) which put the thought in my head of leaving the lower part of the intake box as a heat shield, as that’s what his intake does. Not sure if it will fit or not I’m going to go poke around here shortly

Yeah I actually thought about that to that it does fun off the air down in that area as long as your filter isn't too large

Hey guys just bought spectre filters medium and the elbows to tackle this project. Hopefully all comes out well. Anything I should be aware while installing?

Nope it’s pretty straight forward! Just remember to test placement and fitment with the strut brace before tightening everything down

I must say this is the easiest and cheapest mod I have ever done, great sound and maybe even some power! Thank you guys for the great ideas.

I did mine yesterday. Got two 3" pipe from AdvanceAuto Part and two Spectre air filters from Amazon. Total cost of $52.

How are you guys able to keep the bottom of the intake box on with these filters ? Mine seem way to big for that... I’ll try and mess around again but I think my filters are too big

The right side you can keep the intake box but the left side you can not because of the a/c line.

I have the bottom in on both sides. It is definitely snug once the strut brace is bolted back in. It is literally the only positioning it would fit. I posted the pic above
