3.3TT Oil Catch Can?

Jesus, are you serious? At that rate you'd have to empty it like once a month! That seems like a lot, how many miles is that approx?

Maybe 600?

This whole catch can topic is confusing. Can someone educate me in regards to whether I would need 2 or just use 1 on the pcv side?
Give us a call here, I would be happy to explain this and go over the options available.

Maybe 600?

Now I know very little about these, but some videos I watched on youtube, guys are emptying theirs after 6000k with less oil than that..
Guys keep in mind that during Winter and any colder climate conditions, you will see more build up in the can from the condensation and moisture, this is completely normal, and will not produce as much once the weather warms up a bit.

This is how the oil catch cans are mounted in my 3.3. Stinger:

I bought two OCC on spec in December, because I presumed two were needed, one for each side.

Shortly after delivery of the car, I took it to my mechanic and asked him whether he was prepared to mount the cans.

He checked out the engine and declared, that the can(s) should go on the passenger side, because that’s where the PCV connection is located. According to him, there is only one PCV hose and connection on the engine.

I then took a piece of 2” x 2”“ aluminum angle (2” X 2 ½” or 2” X 3” would have been better, but that’s all I had handy) and cut three slots wide and deep enough to accommodate 3 plastic pins that hold a rubber seal for the hood in that part of the engine bay. This enabled me to slide the aluminum angle between the black plastic and rubber seal until it made contact.

Following that, I marked a location for four #10 1” screws on the horizontal part of the alu angle but used only two when all was finally said & done.

I pulled the aluminum angle back out and mounted the cans, one would have done the trick, but I had two, to be connected in line. The cans were mounted on the aluminum angle with their top level or a bit lower than the hood’s rubber seal.

The whole contraption was then taken to my mechanic who used the connectors supplied with the cans but not the hose pieces. He used heavier 3/8” rubber Power Steering hose made by Continental to counteract the vacuum in the system. A thinner hose will collapse when the engine is running.

With all the heavy preparations already done before going to the shop, the install took at the most 20 minutes and was free of charge.

Total cost was about $60 for two cans including shipping.

Checking the dipstick in the cans after 6.000 km, indication is, there is about 1 ¼” of stuff in each of them. It smells like oil diluted with gasoline. I have not emptied it, because it’s too cold to work on the car.

It works. There you go!

whats the mfg.brand and can you get them with filters to install

I agree..that's a lot more than I would expect. I have had the dual can setup on mine for a few months now and I am getting about a teaspoon full every 1500 miles on the PCV can side only. The other can is bone dry all the time. I had 600 miles on the car when i installed the CC's. I have 4200 miles on the car now.

That's almost identical to my own experience.

I utilized a spare Billet Technologies Hemi catch can I had sitting around. A simple bracket with nut on an existing stud, short 7/16" hose, barbed joiner and a 90deg vacuum boot is all it took.
This placement gives you enough room to unscrew the bottom of the can and get it out without spilling. It is also a 2 minute install so it can come off for dealer visits.
I have a similar style can. Where did get the bracket, and do you remember the specs along with the nut?

My catch cans are doing their job. I have had my SXTH Dual catch cans in for about 2 weeks. I checked both today. Here are pictures from each side. I'm very glad I became convinced of this worthwhile addition to my new Stinger GTS. Look for yourself if you aren't using both intake and pcv sides. Do you want to put one on your intake side now if you don't already have one there?20191005_135948.webp 20191005_140122.webp
Not much oil on the intake side but even in only two weeks the inside of the can is coated with an oily residue and is starting to build up at the bottom!
The pcv side had about 3 tablespoons of a muddy looking mix of liquid that smelled like a mix of fuel, oil and water. There also looked to be small solid particles laying at the bottom of the mix as I swirled it around. Similar in appearance to sand, but my guess is the sediment was building up and starting to clump together.
Maybe someone else who knows more can explain this.

Are any of you installing one way checkvalves between the can and intake manifold?

I've installed a oneway check-valve on the PCV side for good measure. I am also using a dual can setup. Not collecting much on the intake side, but as mentioned by KingLamoni, quite a bit on the PCV side.

What is the recommended setup? One can with 2 ports, one can with 3 ports or 2 cans with 2 ports? I am leaning towards the single can with 2 ports. The intake PCV seems clean to me.

I started with the 1 can 3 port setup, but switched to the 2 can setup. With the single can setup, you cannot determine how much oil you're trapping from either side. You can with the 2 can setup. It was important for me to know.

Ok. How much gunk have you collected from the intake PCV? It doesn't seem like it would be mandatory like the other side.

I would recommend going with our twin can setup, where there are two separate catch cans installed side by side.

ADD W1 V3 - Twin Can Setup - K8 Stinger Store

This set up will include (2) oil catch cans, custom mounting bracket made for the Kia Stinger, all of the hardware to install them, hoses for both cans, and instructions.

What check valve did you use? I'm finding cheap amazon ones or high priced other ones just like the catch can prices.
