I remember finding all kinds of incentives (up to 9k in rebates) when looking at a 19 GT2 but no luck at all in Florida for a 22 GT2. Wasn't sure if waiting till the holiday or the end of the year would secure a fire sale. Any advice?

The '22s are only two months old, so if you want a deal you'll need to wait until they have to get rid of inventory for newer cars. They do have an interest deal which can easily be considered cash savings.

The '21 still has cash off though.

That was my hope but when looking at the 21's, they were asking close to the MSRP that I considered the 22. Unfortunately the dealers were inflating that price as well. The Stinger is still a phenomenal vehicle but pricing is inching closer to the Europeans. Pretty soon the EV's will dominate. By then, I can afford my Stinger. Thanks for your help!

I actually went through a friend of mine's leasing company. The dealer wanted over 650 a month for the 2022 GT1. I spoke to a few different leasing places before hitting up a buddy and they got it down to 535 a month. Was funny cause the 2021 GT1 they wanted more money for. After paying off taxes and fees and getting thrown a $1,500 rebate, I got decently under 500 a month.

That sounds like a decent deal. What’s the lease length/mileage?

A dealer trying for near MSRP on a '21 smells like a hail mary, where they are trying for the heck of it on the odd chance that someone will get caught up in hype or emotion and actually pay that much.

Just out of curiosity, which European models do you see the prices inching up to?

10k miles a year after 3 years. They even negotiated the finance pay-out at the end for a remaining $27,000. Not a bad deal at all. Went with the Kia from West Nyack up in NY.

I was just quoted over $850 per month on a 2022 GT2 AWD. 36months 10k miles / yr with a 31k residual. Seems high to me.

If I understand the math correctly, in broad strokes: the 31k residual plus the $30,600 in total payments works out to a total cap cost of around $60,000. That seems like MSRP plus a big cherry on top for the dealer. And that's if they're not trying to get additional inception costs from you on top of the 850x36.

Depending on where you're located, some of that may be accounted for in sales tax, but not enough for this to look reasonable.

All things considered, it's more than a little high. They might be too.

This dealer definitely rubbed me the wrong way. They wouldn't do anything over email and insisted on calling me. I am not going to be doing business with them. My math comes up with about $2500 in mystery money that can't be attributed to taxes, fees, or TTL. So yeah not going to do that deal, but I am going to try to get a breakdown from them.

That $850 a month sounds like a finance man, sheesh. Before I went through my friend's leasing agency I shopped around Kia dealerships and they wanted mid to high 600s for a new one. Most leasing agencies by me got the number $535-$550.

I would wait, if you can, overall the used and new car market is stupid crazy inflated. Not enough supplies of cars at present.

With a 60 month purchase with $9500 down, $41000 out the door @ 2.51 % APR I pay $732/month.

KIA has a $339 lease incentive for GT Line Stingers, though it isn't a GT2, that delta is usury.

I recently test drove a GT2 at a Fairfield County, CT dealer. They asked me if I wanted to get pre-approved, I told them I couldn't because I was in the process of getting a mortgage and could not touch my credit until that was done. I think that turned them off and they lost their interest.

I asked them to give me some quick numbers to get an idea for when I'm ready to get one, and they quoted me $880/month 36 months 36,000 miles. I know that's a ridiculous number to say the least, especially when you run the calculator off the Kia website. I didn't visibly react to the number, but I know I won't be going back to that particular dealership. And if I still get crazy numbers like that, I guess I'll be shopping at Audi or possibly Acura.

I think I must have said something to the sales guy that made him think I had more money than sense. I mentioned I have a couple other cars and maybe that was it. I also have another car on factory order from a different manufacturer but I didn't tell him that. Oh well there are a lot of dealers and the scorpions are starting to filter in now I've noticed. Soon...

This does seem to be emerging across the board now. It seems many dealers are taking a seller's market mindset. It makes me wonder if they are trying to squeeze what they can out of diminishing supply.

Hopefully anyone who needs a car in the near term can work out a fair arrangement with a reasonable dealer who still places value on good will over a (hopefully) short term cash grab.

Has anyone tried going through a broker recently to see if those asking prices are still historically in line?

That seems very high. I was quoted $625 a month for a 2022 GT2 RWD 36mo/10,000mi a year with $3,000 out of pocket. This is in Southern California

Hang in there. Same situation as you in NC. It's a crap time to buy a car and local dealers are deeply unserious about selling Stingers, adding crazy markups of $4k-6k on 2022 models. Probably wait and see how the market looks after Labor Day if you have the patience.
