Where can I get a remote start for my new Stinger. Outside the dealer, after market?

Welcome aboard, @Vmann KIA! Thank you for signing up! Which Stinger do you have? You have a great question and I updated the discussion title and moved the post into the busiest area so we can have a discussion on it. I'm a little out of the loop with this but I'm sure somebody else will chime in shortly...

Welcome and I don't know - yet!

I have a 2018 Stinger premium, it is a 4cyl. Love it!

Is remote start simply like starting the engine and letting it rumble at low rpm while standing, but remotly? That doesn't exist in Europe, as they'd hang your for the crap exhaust gases you get a low rpm/cold engine plus it's really bad for the engine to do RPMs at very low heat generation... I'd much rather get a proper parking heater.

This for the rest of the world then: Register your car with MyUVO (check your documentation), download the app to your PC or smartphone and start from there. During the set-up of the Remote Control Process you can choose how long the engine is to run, defroster, A/C etc.
I just started the car to try. It works. Make sure the doors are locked before you try. Otherwise, it won't work. Good Luck.

In the States, order remote starter through the dealer. If you order it when you order your car, it will get installed at distribution otherwise the dealer will have to install it. We cannot start our car with MyUVO.

Not available for us in the US, like many other things.

Hm ... i think it's even forbidden by law around here, I'd have to check .. mainly because of the shit gases you get at cold standby.

From this website:
Kia Technology - Overview of Advanced Car Technology

UVO luxe
Kia K900 vehicle owners enjoy all the UVO essentials plus the added convenience of Remote Engine Start/Stop.
That’s in addition to Remote Lock/Unlock, Remote Climate Control, and Find My Car. All it takes is a tap on your app.

Is this for real: What's good for the K900 is NOT good for the Stinger?!
Available and then not available.
Man, that stinks.
What's KIAA thinking?

So Hyundai, GM and I am sure a few others have remote start via phone apps and things like Bluelink or Onstar. Kia has the technology but wont release it to us in the states quite yet. Your best bet for remote start in my opinion if you already have your Stinger is going through the Dealership. Main reasoning for this albeit more expensive will save your warranty if anything goes crazy with the electrical system. Especially in this first year. Anything aftermarket has a hi risk of voiding the electrical warranty even if it is just remote start. I order all of my vehicles (above base level) with remote start as it is less expensive from factory. Not sure if this helps the initial question but if you need anything clarified let me know!

I think the first problem is that you assume that they're thinking lol

I agree with @Strtaylor for the US market. While you can go to pretty much any car audio shop and have an aftermarket remote start installed, I would recommend going through the dealership. These cars are just too new-to-market to have something installed by John Doe down the street, just yet. No offense, @Sales@Tork, I know you guys know what you are doing. Heck, you guys are even taking your's apart bolt by bolt to see what makes it tick! :)

I took mine to the dealership the other day for an early oil change and everyone there was like awesome, a Stinger! Then they all started scratching their heads, wondering how to change the oil! LOL! Not really, but not far from the truth. They did have their more experienced and trained technician do the job but they still had to look up the proper procedure. By the way, did you know the 3.6TT take SEVEN quarts of oil?

SEVEN quarts of oil

Yup, it's in the manual...blame the turbos :)

Hope yours was courtesy of the dealership. Not to brag, but they were kind enough to give me 6.

Yeah, the first oil change was on the dealer. They said I didn't have to pay a dime. Makes me wonder what the cost of my next oil change is going to be.

Not in the UK either.

BTW the EU isn't against Remote Start, my Jag had it, and most of all the German cars can have it.

The Kia remote start is cheap garbage. Way better aftermarket versions for the price.
